    Project Manager, Science and Discovery

    Workforce Genetics is representing a highly innovative immunotherapeutic biotechnology start-up whose science aims to re-program the immune system to restore homeostasis with the intent of curing cancer and autoimmune diseases. Their team is hiring for a full-time Project Manager in Gaithersburg, MD. 

    Responsibilities

    • Provide project management expertise across the research project life cycle, starting from target discovery to IND enabling.
    • Develop and maintain project plans and dashboards to ensure achievable but ambitious timelines
    • Track deliverables and assertively ensure teams are proactively identifying issues and assist to ensure the appropriate mitigations plans
    • Coordinate the development and tracking of goals/ project budget in collaboration with stakeholders and finance
    • Assist with project changes, assess impact to the project timeline, budget and resources
    • Support and ensure tactical and strategic decisions are clearly documented and communicated
    • Support R&D customer facing presentations, scientific publications, abstract submissions and conferences

    Qualifications

    • BA/BS in a scientific or technical field, or equivalent work experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years total relevant experience (including industry, project management, or academia).
    • At least 2 years of project management experience, ideally including the cross-functional management and/or in biotechnology.
    • PMP or other related certification desirable

    Knowledge/skills

    • Strong facilitation, collaborative and project management skills
    • Basic understanding of the overall drug development process, stages of development, and the role of different functional areas (e.g., preclinical, translational, CMC)
    • Good understanding of the early research and development activities of a biotech / pharma company
    • Experiences in participating in cross functional drug development teams is an advantage

    Project Management

    • Ability to create, coordinate and maintain project plans and control or respond to changes in strategy and scope
    • Working knowledge of project management software (e.g., MS Project or Smartsheet)
    • Ability to maintain project information and to integrate and distribute appropriate information to stakeholders
    • Ability to manage teams and individuals in a matrix environment, track performance and progress against objectives
    • Effective meeting management skills/tools
    • Understanding of budget and resource planning; ability to coordinate project-level budget estimates and manage planned versus actuals
