  • Responsibilities

    Our client is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company with a global reputation in the field of neurodegenerative diseases. We are currently looking for a Staff Accountant to manage the day to day accounts payable and general ledger processes.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage the accounts payable process including adherence to the internal purchase orders process and ensuring proper support documentation is included all POs and invoices.

    • Manage the payroll process including posting of transactions, data validation between payroll provider and current employee listing.

    • Perform and/or assist with monthly, quarterly and annual accounting and closing activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts.

    • Prepare, reviewing, and analyzing flux balance sheet and P&L analysis, general ledger activity, contracts, and other analysis as required.

    • Assist with annual audits, creating financial reports/support as necessary, including external reporting requirements and compliance with SOX requirements.

    • Prepare journal entries as appropriate to ensure general ledger is in conformance with GAAP.

    Required Qualifications

    • 3+ years of accounting experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance required

    • Thorough understanding of GAAP; strong research skills

    • Day to day processing of accounts payable process

    • Record employee payroll activity in accounting system

    • Attention to detail and adherence to reporting deadlines

    • Previous monthly, quarterly, annual and external accounting and reporting responsibilities

    Desired Qualifications

    • Biotech and/or pharmaceuticals industry experience preferred

    • Experience with creating policies to ensure compliance with corporate requirements and maintaining a strong internal control environment

    • Ability to work in a dynamic and evolving environment

    • Experience with identifying and implementing scalable process improvements/process efficiencies

    • Knowledge of QuickBooks is preferred

    • CPA candidate preferred
