    We are looking for a Toxicologist to join an established biotech company whose goal is to redefine the biotech/biopharma industry in the United States and globally. Our client has a long standing history of providing products and services that support scientific research, and they are building a team of driven, goal/result-oriented individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the industry.

    This is an exciting opportunity to identify new and improved technologies, reagents, cell lines that will enable or accelerate the toxicology product development program. The Scientist is responsible for supporting R&D programs to develop products, services and standards for life science research in the area of in-vitro assays for toxicology screening applications. The Scientist plans, executes and troubleshoots research activities and investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts toward development of new and/or improved products for toxicology assays.

    In this role, you will:

    • Be responsible for the execution of projects aimed at the in-vitro pre-clinical toxicology screening market including initial design, feasibility testing, development, troubleshooting and tech transfer of new and/or improved value-added assays and related products.
    • Anticipate technical risks and develop mitigation strategies that ensure the projects are executed with full scientific rigor and deliver robust products and tech transfer protocols and processes that are on-time, on-budget and to specification.
    • Develop appropriate application data to support posters at scientific conferences, webinars, website content, IP filings and other needs, as appropriate.
    • Remain current with knowledge in relevant toxicology based scientific fields and brings new product development ideas into the pipeline and monitors new product introduction of key competitors.
    • Explore technologies, approaches and intellectual properties that would improve assay and product convenience, stability, productivity and margin.
    • Identify and establish working relationships with external Key Opinion Leaders to help determine voice of customer, drive product specifications and provide early product performance data.
    • Will participate on and/or lead product development Core Teams.
    • Establish effective working relationships with appropriate cross-functional groups and individuals within organization to drive the product development process.
    • May informally or formally mentor or supervise junior staff.
    • Manage activities efficiently and effectively to meet program time-lines and performance requirements in alignment with team and corporate goals.

     Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in a biological life science, with 2 – 5 years of relevant experience in in-vitro pre-clinical toxicology assays, additional years are highly preferred. Also, open to Senior Scientist with Ph.D. in a biological science, with 5-8 years of relevant experience. Will consider Masters degree with additional years of experience. 
    • Significant hands-on expertise in cell-based assays for liver and cardiac tox assessment and/or 3D models including organ-on-a-chip are highly preferred.
    • Two years of previous experience in industry and/or product development is highly desirable; additional years are highly preferred.
    • Experience building and maintaining internal and external relationships is desired.
    • Experience in an ISO accredited, and matrix-ed organization is preferred.
    • In-depth knowledge and hands-on expertise in pre-clinical in-vitro toxicology assays including complex models involving 3D cell culture and/or organ-on-a-chip assays.
    • Strong work ethic and an attitude of personal ownership and accountability for the success of a program.
    • Demonstrated ability to think innovatively, creatively and strategically and to exercise sound scientific and business judgment.
    • Attentive to detail with a high level of accuracy, strong project planning and time management skills.

    • Adaptable; be able to shift priorities and focus as departmental and/or business demands change including, but not limited to occasional early/late hours and/or weekend hours.
    • Follow all company safety practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and policies.
