    We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist to join an emerging stage biotech company that is developing cutting edge vaccine technologies for HPV, and additional applications in other indications. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the development of the next-generation of biologics in a highly collegial environment.

    The Scientist I, Immunology and Molecular Biology will primarily support the company’s current vaccine R&D and assist in other laboratory activities for other pipeline projects on an as-needed basis. A high level of responsibility, flexibility, and acceptance to constructive guidance is required to carry out the diverse duties of this position.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Vaccination of mice, and culturing of murine and/or human T cells.

    • Experienced and proficient with multi-color flow cytometry and data analysis.

    • Measurement of cytokines.

    • Perform and lead independent project(s) in the design and testing of research studies to compare or evaluate vaccine candidates during the course of development.

    • Dissection and collection of tissue samples from mice.

    • Perform complex multi-step assays including creation, development optimization of new assay schemes.

    • Help to author SOP for new methods and update existing SOPs.

    • Assist in the training of new technical personnel in the performance of a variety of laboratory techniques.

    • Manage concurrent research projects and master new concepts and skills quickly with attention to detail and accuracy.

    • Compile, analyze, and interpret research data using various relevant computer software applications.

    • Maintain thorough records of experiments, including issues encountered.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • PhD in immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, in particular, an understanding of immunology and a solid knowledge of T cell biology is required.

    • Demonstrated experience with flow cytometry and other assays is required.

    • Experience working with animal research models (rodents) is required.

    • Mammalian cell line and/or primary cell culture experience is required.

    • Extensive experience in standard molecular biology techniques, including PCR, western blots, ELISA, and molecular cloning are required.

    • Meticulous attention to detail and highly capable of maintaining detailed experimental records, and observing safety and sterility practices (required).

    • Effective communication skills are required.

    • Ability to work independently and effectively in a start-up environment while engaged in collaborative studies.
