    We are working with our client, an established Commercial Real Estate Company located in Stockton, CA, to fill the position of Assistant Controller.  THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE PRIOR APPLICABLE EXPERIENCE WORKING IN COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

    The position will be accounting and operationally focused, responsible for all aspects of investment and development accounting, reporting and financial management. In addition, the position will work directly with the senior management and will have involvement with investor accounting and reporting, tax analysis, transaction structuring among other items. The person will work with and help support Investor Relations, Acquisitions in addition to Corporate Accounting.

    DUTIES:

    • Assistant Controller will assist Controller in the overall project accounting and corporate financial statements
    • Open bank accounts and certain treasury functions
    • Responsible for maintenance and reconciliation of all general ledger activity for new acquisitions and existing portfolio, including recording and reconciliation of investor’s capital contribution and distributions, preparing intercompany reconciliations/balance account analysis
    • Prepare quarterly financials and report requirements for investors and banks
    • Respond to investor/lender inquires and assist Investor Relations with investor related questions concerning capital accounts, accounting, tax and investment related issues.
    • Record assets and depreciation in fixed asset database
    • Prepare and analyze activities in capital expenditure accounts and capital accounts in response to investor and bank inquiries. This will involve coordination with Acquisitions, Property Management and Accounting.
    • Recommend and implement improvement to project accounting processes
    • Complete ad hoc financial projects as required.

     THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:

    • Prior public accounting preferred, managerial experience, in addition to real estate or relevant industry experience
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and quality of deliverables
    • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Must have excellent work ethic, high level of integrity and excellent follow-up skills.
    • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in decision making.
    • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
    • Superior ability to track and meet deadlines focused on overcoming obstacles.
    • High level of computer skills, including extensive experience with Yardi Voyage or similar real estate accounting system.
    • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
    • Team player with the ability to relate to all levels, ability to engage in collaborative problem solving.
    • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times while ensuring confidential information is secure.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
    • Prior public accounting preferred, managerial experience, in addition to real estate or relevant industry experience.
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
