    THE WORLD EQUESTRIAN CENTER IS SEEKING A SOMMELIER TO JOIN OUR TEAM! 

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist the Beverage Director in food and beverage operations.
    • Assist in ordering, receiving, inventory, organizing and selling wine and liquor.
    • Review all wine and liquor purchases and cost management.
    • Assist in the implementation of Beverage Committee duties (minutes, wine of the month selection, introduction of new vendors, wineries, etc.)
    • Assist guests during the entire duration of dinner services with wine recommendations and selection for perfect  pairing with their dinner, decanting of the wine and wine service.
    • Assist in the develop of a training program for all Team Members to improve their knowledge of wine tasting and wine service.
    • Assist in the training of Team Members throughout the property to maximize their understanding of wine specific to their departments and proper service techniques including glassware, pour levels, storage, beverage pairings and the ability to understand guest preferences.
    • Ensure that all wine is served in proper glassware and in proper condition.
    • Maintain all beverage lists to be accurate, up to date and free of errors.
    • Maintain all Wine, Liquor, and beer inventory and update as new product arrives.
    • Promote all wine events, selling Wine events and Wine Dinners.
    • Assist in creation of beverage menus for multiple outlets and events.
    • Support restaurant General Managers with beverage programming recommendations.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Must be passionate about wine
    • Must possess superior people skills
    • The ability to determine wine faults and maintain proper temperatures to showcase products at their maximum potential
    • A strong knowledge of food and beverage pairings
    • Solid understanding of pricing, budgets and cost controls
    • Operation and programming knowledge of a point of sales system
    • TABC certified
    • Excellent oral and written communication skill
    • Strong computer skills

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • CMS Certified Sommelier credential or equivalent accreditation/experience is required
    • 2 or more years experience in as similar role in a fine dining restaurant, hotel or country club
