Job Description

We are seeking an _ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR _to join our team in SACRAMENTO, CA.

• This Oracle Database Administrator will develop and implement a Microsoft Azure Cloud-based Backup and Restore and Disaster Recovery solution in support of a Business Continuity Plan. 
• The two-phased effort includes development/implementation and a post implementation 5 year maintenance and operational phase. 
• Desired candidate must have excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and analytical skills. 
• In addition, this individual will be expected to perform at an extremely high level with little learning curve and must thrive under pressure while enjoying working in a team environment.

NOTE: This position is on-site in Sacramento, CA. 

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Be able to provide all levels of database support including off-hours as required. 
• Able to discuss (within own area of expertise) requirements with customers, and to challenge and clarify when appropriate. 
• From the requirements, able to develop a high-level design or plan, and then estimate the amount of effort required to deliver on time and budget. 
• Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. 
• Works collaboratively with other teams including Project Managers, Developers, Architects, and third party vendors to ensure project success. 
• Excellent professionalism, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to communicate proactively to management any potential issues that may hinder the ability to meet project deadlines.

ORACLE DBA KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: 

• 6+ years of professional Oracle DBA support for installations on Oracle versions 11g or higher.
•  A Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in Computer Science or related area of study. Without a degree, four additional years of relevant professional experience (10+ years in total). 
• Experience in the installation, configuration and maintenance of the Oracle Databases including documenting all custom settings and configurations necessary for proper operations. 
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models including RMAN, hot and cold backups. 
• Firsthand experience setting up and configuring Oracle 11g/12c ASM and Oracle RAC. 
• Recent experience configuring and supporting Oracle Data Guard. 
• Knowledge and recent use of Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c and above. 
• Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools. 
• Exceptional knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics. 
• Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts. 
• Must have excellent troubleshooting skills. 
• Extensive PL/SQL and UNIX shell scripting skills. 
• DBA support in Linux operating environments.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS: 

• Knowledge of Fusion Middleware 
• Knowledge of Cohesity data protection.
