Launched in 2011, All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development (ACR GCD) is a partnership of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), World Vision and the Australian Government that advances edtech innovation and research to improve reading outcomes for marginalized children in low-resource contexts. World Vision, on behalf of the Partners is searching for a visionary and strategic leader with expertise in partnership management, public engagement, and innovation. A background in international education and an understanding of the contribution of technology to literacy and learning is highly desirable.

The Project Director will lead a dynamic and creative team of program management and communications professionals in coordinating the Challenge Management activities on behalf of the ACR GCD partners and lead World Vision’s engagement in the partnership. ACR GCD has recently launched a new strategy of which the Project Director will guide its implementation.

The position will have overall responsibility for the management of all agreed upon ACR GCD activities and relationships with the Partners, awardees, and additional collaborators under this initiative. S/he will have responsibility for representing ACR GCD on behalf of the Founding Partners, which includes guiding a creative communication and convening strategy. The Project Director will be responsible for overall project planning and activities, budget monitoring, resource acquisition and management, and quality reporting to the ACR GCD partners. The Project Director shall have extensive experience in fostering and managing complex partnerships and will work collaboratively with ACR GCD partner offices/missions and posts to accomplish the ACR GCD strategy. The Project Director will also have responsibility for engaging new funding and technical collaborators on behalf of, and in coordination with the ACR GCD partners. In addition, the Project Director will help carry out World Vision’s Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Implement the ACR GCD strategy in the design of programs and various activities, and to achieve the outcomes and goals outlined in the results framework.
2. Engage the Partners, through regular meetings and communications, in alignment with the established governance model, to ensure each Partner is effectively engaged and strategic alignment is maintained.
3. Develop and reach Partner consensus on an annual workplan, provide regular reporting on the workplan, and identify and prioritize opportunities and risks associated with activities.
4. Track program milestones and adjust plans and/or resources to meet the identified ACR GCD objectives. Provide regular updates to the ACR GCD Partners, ensuring that changes to scope, budget, resources and risks are communicated in a timely manner.
5. Manage the ACR GCD Management team using agile project management systems and processes, ensuring that team members are effectively engaged, work adheres to quality standards, and project deadlines are met.
6. Mentor and coach staff to support their professional development and to ensure they develop and apply the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in their roles.
7. Engage World Vision senior leadership and staff to identify and prioritize opportunities associated with ACR GCD activities.
8. Engage World Vision US various teams, external consultants, and contract staff as necessary to meet project resource requirements and to achieve agreed objectives.
9. Oversee and manage the ACR GCD budget to ensure compliance and alignment with the annual budget.
10. In addition to the Founding Partners, engage a diverse range of collaborators in the innovation, education, and technology spaces to identify opportunities for partnership, collaboration and shared impact.
11. Keep informed of organizational announcements, activities and changes via regular reading of the WVUS Intranet and other corporate communication tools.
12. Apply subgrant management policies and procedures to ensure compliance and the appropriate use of resources.
13. Perform other duties as required.

Required Experience

Master's degree is required. Work experience in a complex NGO environment, preferably managing major projects and initiatives; 10-15 years of relevant experience
