01 THE JOB At World Vision USA we invite people to positively impact the lives of the world's most vulnerable children through charitable giving. Our recipe includes love of all people, thriftiness, and targeting the root causes of poverty to bring about human transformation and fullness of life. With us every 60 seconds a family gets water, a hungry child is fed, and a family gets the tools to overcome poverty. As LOGISTICS MANAGER in our Christian humanitarian organization reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, directly manage a team of 2 to effectively support all Gift-In-Kind product donations with logistics movement to both international and domestic destinations. Gift-in-Kind are physical donations of product from corporations (e.g. clothing, medical supplies, furniture). The volumes from last year were movement of 85K pallets on 400+ international containers and 3K+ FTL’s and LTL’s. The role will have you working with US and international customs officials to resolve delays and obtain release of merchandise. Taking on the challenges of researching and providing recommendations that move the needle on lowering freight costs, improving service to donors and field partners, and reducing shipment issues. Using our new ShippersEdge TMS recently introduced for managing shipments, you will ensure data integrity and clear communication of logistics status across all stakeholders. As needed, support and/or coordinate applications for transport grants and reimbursements from various government agencies. Is this opportunity calling you? 02 WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE [1] Continuous Improvement – using LEAN and Six Sigma methodology to drive out waste and inefficiencies and improve service levels year-over-year, [2] Driving solutions to unique and complex donor challenges – an example is solving for multiple weekly direct international shipments out of a donors FTZ, [3] Driving solutions to unique and complex international challenges (e.g. get PVOC approvals for multi-product containers going into Uganda).

05 YOU BRING A Bachelor’s degree or 8 years of equivalent work experience. Additionally, you have a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant logistics or supply chain work experience. You have a faith-centered passion to help carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies as well as personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign. As a World Vision employee, we ask that you keep Christ central in your individual and corporate life. One of the ways employees do this at work is by attending and taking part in the leadership of devotions, weekly Chapel services, and regular prayer.
06 ADDITIONAL SKILLS WE’RE INTERESTED IN Your supply chain background includes international logistics or distribution experience preferably in a non-profit organization or similar environment. You have Green Belt or Black Belt Certification in LEAN and/or Six Sigma methodology or a willingness to commit to earning this within 1 year or less from date of hire. You bring an adept ability to handle the multiple new logistical challenges that come in each day using a customer-centric approach that ensures the continuity of an excellent donor and stakeholder experience from end-to-end. Current or former colleagues would say you are known for clear and timely communication. You can survive and thrive in a fluid day-to-day environment where you have multiple balls up in the air so to speak.
