    World Vision is hiring a SENIOR TECHNICAL ADVISOR to advise on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health issues.

     

    01 AT A GLANCE

     

    Role:  Senior Technical Advisor, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health

    Location: Washington, D.C. USA

    Reports to: Senior Director of Health Sector, Resource Development

    Required experience: Master's degree required. Doctoral level and clinical skills a plus. Minimum of 6 years of international programming work experience. Deep technical and clinical knowledge in Maternal and Child Health sector.

    Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the USA for any employer.

    Travel: Up to 40% of time both in development and fragile contexts.

     

    02 THE JOB: World Vision is looking for a SENIOR TECHNICAL ADVISOR to support our rapid growth in the health international development space. This position will support the US-based Business Development and World Vision National Offices overseas, to identify new opportunities among public, private and non-profit sources of funding. The Senior Technical Advisor will play a key role in supporting programming implementation in the field. Help World Vision carry out our Christian organization's mission and strategy. Candidates must be in agreement with and help to enhance World Vision’s Mission, Vision, and Values. The candidate will personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.

     

    RESOURCE MOBILIZATION, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND CAPACITY STRENGTHENING – 70%

     

    • Facilitate RMNCA-H program design, contribute technical content, writing and review drafts for RMNCA-H or integrated proposals.
    • Cultivate partnerships with diverse organizations related to RMNCA-H programming, research, and learning.
    • Support identification of RMNCA-H relevant upcoming funding opportunities and provide technical assistance to country offices in positioning for the funding opportunities.
    • Stay abreast of global RMNCA-H technical and donor funding trends to ensure that proposals are evidence-based and responsive to donor requirements and priorities.
    • Provide RMNCA-H technical assistance (TA) to project teams, local partners, and ministries of health, including for projects funded by USAID and private donors, for the design and implementation of life-cycle including pre/adolescent age-appropriate (9-18) and social and behavior change programs with interventions across the socio-ecological model.
    • Provide TA on RMNCA-H and youth responsive health services and systems.
    • Strengthen national office staff technical capacity in RMNCA-H.

     

    TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP, PROGRAM LEARNING AND DOCUMENTATION– 30%

     

    • Implement RMNCA-H technical thought leadership initiatives, including as part of global projects.
    • Lead the development, technical writing, and dissemination of MNCA-H, family planning (FP) and reproductive health (RH) technical briefs and knowledge products.
    • Contribute to program reports, including drafting and reviewing sections.
    • Conceptualize, convene, and present in RMNCA-H technical consultations, webinars, and other virtual engagements internally and externally.
    • Facilitate and contribute to RMNCA-H external communities of practice.

     

    03 YOU’LL BRING THESE SKILLS: 

    • 10-15 years' relevant experience in RMNCA-H strongly preferred; at least 6 years required.
    • Master’s degree in public health, clinical (nursing, midwifery, medical doctor) degree strongly preferred.
    • Experience working with public health, RMNCA-H programs in a low- or middle-income country.
    • Technical understanding of RMNCA-H, healthy timing and spacing of pregnancy, family planning, social norms/social and behavior change for RMNCA-H and gender transformative programming for women, adolescents and youth.
    • Demonstrated experience in community-based programming and a continuum of care with health systems.
    • Demonstrated experience developing/adapting global RMNCA-H program tools/guidance, leading technical learning, documentation, and knowledge management in RMNCA-H projects.
    • Proven technical writing and public speaking experience.
    • Proven understanding of RMNCA-H monitoring and evaluation, including experience supporting evaluations and using evidence and learning to rapidly adapt programming.
    • Experience securing, contributing to proposals for USAID, Foundations, and/or other relevant RMNCA-H donors, familiarity with USAID project cycles, policies, and procedures.
    • Demonstrated success to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and across different organizations.
    • Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 40%.

     

    04 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree required. International programming work experience, related professional experience, or research institution experience required; 6 years. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Must be able to establish strong relationships cross culturally. Proven work experience securing and/or managing significant funding from institutional donors. Deep technical knowledge in Maternal and Child Health sector is required.

     

    05 ADDITIONAL SKILLS WE ARE INTERESTED IN:

     

    • 10-15 years of experience strongly preferred.
    • Proficient in a language other than English (French, Arabic, Spanish, Swahili) preferred.
    • Doctoral level education a plus.
    • Experience working in one or more of the following regions: Africa, Asia, Latin America Caribbean.
    • Familiarity with HIV prevention strategies.
    • Experience supporting public health, RMNCA-H projects in fragile settings and/or experience in humanitarian programming a plus.
