    World Vision is hiring a SENIOR ADVOCACY ASSOCIATE, GENDER AND EDUCATION to serve on the Advocacy and Government Relations team.

     

    AT A GLANCE  

    ROLE: Senior Advocacy Associate, Gender and Education

    REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Government Relations

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Political Science, International Development, Communications or related field or equivalent (eight years) work experience. Requires a minimum of 2-4 year's work experience on issue or political campaigns, at a non-governmental or advocacy organization, and/or in an elected official's office.

    WORK AUTHORIZATION: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A. for any employer.

    SALARY RANGE: $53,200 - $79,700. Please note the typical hiring range is $55,000 - $66,000 annually. Job offers within the range are based on relevant job qualifications and pay equity. This range applies to locations with a market similar to our Washington D.C. office. A different range may apply based on your work location.

     

    THE JOB:

    The Senior Advocacy Associate for Gender and Education is a position within World Vision's government relations team, based in Washington, D.C.  This role supports policy, advocacy and programmatic priorities for World Vision with Congress, the Administration, World Vision donors, partner organizations/coalitions and the general public.  Specifically, the senior advocacy associate will be the department lead and subject matter policy expert on education, gender, social inclusion and other assigned issue areas.  

    We also have the ability to hire candidates as an Advocacy Associate based on experience.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, including Congressional offices and committees, USAID and the State Department. 
    • Facilitate meetings for World Vision senior leaders as appropriate.
    • Leveraging stakeholder relationships to achieve World Vision policy objectives and raise World Vision's profile as a leader in education, gender and social inclusion.
    • Developing strategies, in collaboration with other team members and the Senior Director of Government Relations, to achieve policy objectives, including contributing to and initiating legislative proposals and appropriations priorities.
    • Representing World Vision with key coalitions such as the Basic Education Coalition and Girls Not Brides.
    • Supporting advocacy mobilization of World Vision supporters and donors, including writing legislative summaries, policy reports, blog posts and talking points.
    • Proving monthly internal policy updates to senior leadership.
    • Collaborating with technical and programmatic teams to develop policy positions that align with technical approaches and program priorities.
    • Conduct research, policy analysis, and prepare policy papers in support of portfolio strategies, overall Advocacy team strategy, and WVUS and WVI strategies.
    • Independently generate advocacy and policy ideas for assigned subject areas.
    • Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as a member of a team.
    • Maintain awareness of corporate goals, objectives, organizational announcements, and activities. Reference and follow organizational policies and procedures, seeking clarity as needed.
    • Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, devotions, chapel, prayer, worship); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.

     

    YOU BRING THESE SKILLS: 

    • Basic understanding of international development/global issues and/or understanding of Congress

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

    • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Political Science, International Development, Communications or related field or equivalent (eight years) work experience.
    • In addition to education or education equivalent, requires a minimum of 2-4 year's work experience on issue or political campaigns, at a non-governmental or advocacy organization, and/or in an elected official's office.

     

    SALARY RANGE & BENEFITS: 

    • WVUS PAY GRADE LEVEL: 221
    • The full range for this position is $53,200 - $79,700.
    • TYPICAL HIRING RANGE IS $55,000 - $66,000 A YEAR.
    • This range applies to locations with a market similar to our Washington D.C. office. A different range may apply based on your work location.
