    World Vision is hiring a PROJECT MANAGER to serve on IPG Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs (HEA).

     

    AT A GLANCE 

    ROLE: Project Manager, Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs

    LOCATION: Washington, D.C. or Federal Way, WA, USA; remote possible.

    REPORTS TO: Senior Director of HEA

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (eight years). In addition to education or education equivalent, requires 3-5 years of work experience in project management and international programs work. Work experience must include at least one year of previous project leadership experience.

    WORK AUTHORIZATION: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A. for any employer.

    TRAVEL: Up to 20% of the time both in development and fragile contexts.

     

    THE JOB:

    World Vision is looking for a PROJECT MANAGER to support the HEA team’s overall portfolio of U.S. government and UN grants and privately funded projects. The Project Manager will work across all aspects of the HEA’s mission, taking on team-level initiatives around both project management and resource acquisition. The Project Manager may participate in the completion of divisional or corporate-wide projects, overseeing the work of project teams and providing expertise regarding specific sectors as needed. They will help carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies, and personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word, and sign.

     

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

    • PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Ensure that assigned projects are managed effectively through appropriate, timely and detailed communication with appropriate internal teams and relevant stakeholders regarding major issues and successes related to the project. Coordinate with appropriate staff and leadership to encourage and facilitate the documentation of promising practices and lessons learned. Standing projects include management of WVUS’s privately funded program reporting and offer development processes.
    • BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT SURGE CAPACITY: Provide surge capacity for Program Managers and Business Development Managers as needed during their busy seasons, including but not limited to: management of USG awards and privately funded projects, ensuring both donor compliance and program quality throughout the project life cycle; assistance with the development of USG and/or privately funded proposals, ensuring that all requisite documents are complete and submitted on time; and support for the acquisition and reporting processes of WVUS’s World Food Program portfolio.
    • INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Manage information requests from various internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the team, gathering the relevant information from team members and/or internal and external sources as needed. Proactively maintain the most current data and information needed to support reporting, portfolio management, proposal & business plan development and maintenance, etc.

     

    YOU BRING THESE SKILLS:

    • EXPERIENCE IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT: You can establish a systematic course of action for self or others to ensure accomplishment of project objectives. You are a self-starter who can evaluate, select and act on various methods and strategies for solving problems and meeting objectives before being asked or required to do so.
    • EXPERIENCE IN HUMANITARIAN STANDARDS AND SETTINGS: You are familiar with humanitarian settings, their challenges, and the global standards and best practices for humanitarian response.
    • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a high-paced work environment.
    • You can communicate and interact effectively with people from other cultures, religions, and geographies; respects and adapts to other cultures; seeks opportunities to enhance relationships.

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (eight years). In addition to education or education equivalent, requires 1-5 years of work experience in project management and international programs work.  Experience working with Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs a plus. Work experience must include at least one year of previous project leadership experience.

     

    ADDITIONAL SKILLS WE ARE INTERESTED IN: 

    • Language fluency outside of English, preferred
    • Ability to travel without much notice
    • Ability to work well across teams and departments
    • Advanced Excel and/or data analysis skills, preferred
