    World Vision is now Hiring for a SPANISH-SPEAKING FINANCE OFFICER to serve on our International Programs Team. 

     

    AT A GLANCE 

    ROLE: Finance Officer

    LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT: English & Spanish

    LOCATION: Remote within the U.S.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Fluent in Spanish. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or international business. In addition to education or education equivalent, requires a minimum of two years of work experience in finance and/or grants management.  Previous work experience with an international relief/development organization.

    WORK AUTHORIZATION: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A. for any employer.

    TRAVEL: Up to 25% of time both in development and fragile contexts.

    SALARY RANGE: $67,000 - $104,000. Please note the typical hiring range is $70,000 - $85,000 annually. Job offers within the range are based on relevant job qualifications and pay equity. This range applies to locations with a market similar to our Washington D.C. office. A different range may apply based on your work location.

     

    THE JOB

    World Vision is looking for a FINANCE OFFICER to oversee international financial management of complex sector-specific portfolios of cash grant programs, ensuring resources are acquired, properly allocated according to donor requirements, and efficiently utilized to meet project goals. The officer will provide risk mitigation and capacity building services to appropriate field-facing and donor-facing stakeholders. As a Christian organization, this person will help carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies; personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ; minister to others through life, deed, word and sign

     

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

    Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, devotions, chapel, prayer, worship); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.

     

    BUDGETING/MANAGEMENT/COMMITMENTS/REPORTING:

    • Lead the preparation of proposal budgets and amendment requests in collaboration with field partners and with input from program officers.
    • Advise program teams on resource integration options to meet match requirements of grants and on recovery of indirect and field ministry service costs for grant proposals and private funding.
    • Assist in the development of the annual program team operating budget and monitor actual performance developing income projections.
    • Review and/or generate financial reports for compliance with and donor requirements analyze spending trends and provide feedback and analysis to sector team leaders and field colleagues on areas with significant over- or under spending.
    • Prepare close-out documentation at end of funding cycles in compliance with government regulations.

     

    AUDIT/COMPLIANCE/CAPACITY BUILDING:

    • Address Government and World Vision International audits in partnership with national/program offices, providing required information to auditors and participating in the defense of disallowed costs.
    • Facilitate training sessions on topics such as grants management, general accounting, internal controls and administrative systems, as well as sectoral specific topics to field staff as needed and assisting field offices in interpreting regulations to ensure compliance.

     

    POLICY/PROCEDURE DEVELOPMENT:

    • Assist in the development of financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance to Generally
    • Accepted Accounting Principles, WVI finance policies, and Government and other donor regulations.
    • Provide expert consultation regarding the implementation of cost allocation methodology (CAM) at a project/grant level.

     

    TECHNICAL OR SECTOR EXPERTISE:

    • Utilize knowledge of and expertise working in or with a particular technical sector and utilize this knowledge to manage a portfolio of grant programs from multiple donors.
    • Prepare financial plans, proposal budgets, amendments, and extensions for the life of an award up to and including close-out.
    • Ensure headquarters and regional support costs are appropriately represented within each budget submission. Attend or ensure appropriate coverage for relevant meetings.

     

    Work collaboratively with program and finance team members to represent balanced perspective on sectoral funding allocations.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Maintain awareness of corporate goals, objectives, organizational announcements, and activities. Reference and follow organizational policies and procedures, seeking clarity as needed.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or international business or equivalent work experience (eight years). Master’s degree preferred. In addition to education or education equivalent, requires a minimum of two years of work experience in finance and/or grants management. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other professional accreditation preferred. Previous work experience with an international relief/development organization strongly recommended given the international context of this role.

    • WVUS PAY GRADE LEVEL: 224
    • The full range for this position is $67,000 - $104,000.
    • TYPICAL HIRING RANGE IS $70,000 - $85,000 A YEAR.
    • This applies to locations with a market similar to our Washington D.C. office.
