    TEMPORARY STAFF VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

     

    The MANSFIELD CENTER invites applications for a TEMPORARY PROJECT MANAGER.  The person assigned to this position is an integral part of planning and organizing activities of the Professional Fellows Program (PFP) of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).  PFP is a two-way exchange program between young Southeast Asian professionals and U.S. counterparts. The Mansfield Center’s PFP program is part of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI).  The program is designed to promote mutual understanding, enhance leadership and professional skills, and build lasting partnerships between professionals with shared interests.

    The employee assigned to this role for YSEALI PFP will assist in the placement of Southeast Asian fellows with Montana-based organizations and support placements of fellows in the Rocky Mountain West. The individual in this position manages all aspects of the program, from assisting with recruitment and selection of Southeast Asian fellows, to the planning of their program and fellowship placements, to the implementation and follow-on of the program, to supporting the travel of U.S. participants to Southeast Asia.

    In addition to primary work on PFP, this position will also support additional Mansfield Center programs and activities as a member of the team collaborating on the overall mission to foster globally minded leaders of integrity. The individual assigned to this position will be responsible for the supervision of project coordinators and/or student interns. The standard work schedule will be 8:00am - 5:00pm, M-F, but some evening and weekend hours may be required depending on program needs.

     

     Specific duties include:

    • Program management and support of U.S. State Department grant projects, with a focus on design, planning and management of the Professional Fellows Program, with a focus on curriculum, development of program materials, and additional resources.
    • Manage daily communications with global participants and U.S.-based participants, as well as inquiries from the public.
    • Establish relationships and identify Montana-based fellowship placements for international exchange fellows in a variety of areas within the theme of civic engagement, including education, health, justice, etc.
    • Identify families and match homestay families for cultural component of exchanges.
    • Advise global and U.S. participants and families on cultural communication, adjustments, and logistical issues.
    • Coordinate and organize participant travel, visas, and expenses, communicating with necessary partner organizations and following applicable procedures.
    • Provide support to participants needed, including emergencies or urgent issues outside of regular business hours and across time zones.
    • Provide dedicated individual support to participants with disabilities, assisting them in order to be comfortable and successful in the program.
    • Monitor the budget, track expenses, and manage budget oversight and quarterly reconciliation, under the supervision of the Director.
    • Maintain and organize information necessary for bi-annual grant reporting, compiling report under supervision of the Director.
    • Under oversight of Director, managing partnerships with other institutions, ensuring quality of programming across a multi-state area, communicating regularly and effectively regarding logistics, budget, contracts, fellowships and homestay placements, cultural activities, implementation, and program wrap-up.
    • Provide updates to the Director frequently, while managing tasks independently.
    • Ensure that the program is accurately represented and amplified on the Mansfield website, social media, and other outreach platforms. This includes becoming trained in these activities to independently manage such updates, and also coordinating with student employees and other colleagues to develop a cohesive Center message.
    • Collaborate with Director to manage procedures for program participant recruitment and acceptance; participant registration and communications; as well as any other operational requirements for the development and implementation of this program.
    • Work collaboratively with the Mansfield Center team on other exchange programs, events, and special projects as they arise.
    • Ensure program information is added to relevant databases.

     

    Upon completion of training, the incumbent will have developed experience and a working knowledge of:

    • Experience utilizing Cascade Contemporary Management System for website
    • Ability to develop social media and program communication strategies.
    • Ability to utilize Canva to design outreach materials.
    • Experience in training and supervising staff and student employees.
    • Knowledge of UM, State of Montana, and Department of State procedures.
    • Experience with budget reconciliation and oversight.
    • Experience developing grant reports.
    • Experience with cross-cultural communication and program management.

    • Ability to drive across Montana and to other states on field studies or site visits.
    • Ability to accompany program groups to Washington, DC for up to one week.
    • Ability to represent the Mansfield Center on international programs if needed, for up to two (2) weeks.

    Minimum Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (international relations, communications, education, etc.)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree in a field related to the mission of the Mansfield Center: international relations, public administration, communications, political science, etc.
    • Strong network in Montana and extensive knowledge of Montana organizations, agencies, and businesses.
    • Experience working in international education.
    • Partial or full fluency in a foreign language

    Position Details

    POSITION TITLE:                    TEMPORARY PROJECT MANAGER

    POSITION NUMBER:              NEW

    DEPARTMENT:                       Mansfield Center

    WORK SCHEDULE:                  Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year. Some weekend/evening work may be required based on program needs.

    SALARY:                                $18.35/HR –Current employee’s rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan and will minimally be this posted salary. For questions and details regarding the staff compensation plan, email the Compensation Department.
