    TEMPORARY STAFF VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

     

    The BITTERROOT COLLEGE invites applications for a TEMPORARY JOB SITE READY INSTRUCTOR. This position is for part-time, non-college credit instruction for Bitterroot College’s Construction Job Site Ready (JSR) Program for the October 2021 JSR program. The instructor delivers established Job Site Ready curriculum in a hands-on setting and responds to student inquiries during online portion of program (established student/self-guided, automatically graded modules). This position is part-time based on seasonal program offerings (fall, spring, and summer). The hands-on component of each Job Site Ready program lasts for three days (15 hours of handson instruction). All hours are dependent on program enrollment and may be cancelled due to insufficient program enrollment. Total pay is equivalent to one (1) credit of adjunct faculty compensation ($1,300).

     

     

    Required Skills

    • Knowledge of best and safe practices in construction trades training
    •  Knowledge of roles and responsibilities of entry-level construction worker
    • Excellent skill in construction tool use i.e., slide saw, skill saw, table saw, pneumatic framing gun, electric drill, etc.
    • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
    • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
    • Sufficient information technology skills for instruction and communication, i.e., use of MS
    • PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel, internet, email, and Zoom
    • Ability to work in a dynamic and hazardous environment
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends

     

    Physical Requirements

    • Lift 50 pounds
    • Occasionally lift or move 100 pounds
    • Frequent walking
    • Reach forward with hands and arms
    • Occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch

     

    Minimum Required Experience

    • Three years of construction trades experience with at least one year in a supervisory capacity or Associate of Applied Science degree (or higher) in construction trades or related discipline or combination of construction job experience and college-credit education in construction trades or related discipline
    • Experience in construction trades' tools use and maintenance, materials handling, workplace safety, industrial practices, and project management
    •  Experience in teaching adults or supervising construction workers at a job site or completion of a course in teaching adults

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Ability to troubleshoot curriculum and evolve curriculum content and implementation to continually improve student outcomes.

    WORK SCHEDULE:                 Part-time .375 FTE

    SALARY:                                $1,300 total pay–Current employee’s rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan and will minimally be this posted salary.
