    Woven is a vibrant rug company founded in the heart of the Los Angeles Design District. The carefully curated inventory of antique, vintage and contemporary is sourced and hand selected from around the world. Studio Woven, an in house designed collection of contemporary rugs, launched in 2016.

     

    A treasured resource for interior designers, Woven's reach includes a showroom in New York City, select boutique wholesale partners throughout the US and collaboration with Design Within Reach. Introduced in 2016, Studio Woven - inspired and informed by the antique and vintage masterpieces in our collection - forges a new pathway for the modern home, where west coast innovation meets eastern tradition to intertwine ideas and cultures to design rugs for the 21st century home.     Woven works with top design firms throughout the country, including many AD 100 and Elle Decor A-list firms, and has just undergone a complete rebranding with a new ad campaign (AD, Interior Design, Elle Decor, etc.), new website and new collectible brand book.

     

    About the Role:

    This is an unpaid internship and you must be able to receive class credit from an accredited University or College to be considered. This role will be based out of our Los Angeles flagship office and will report to the Design Director.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Art/design background, preferably majoring in Textile Design.
    • Creative proficiency with supporting portfolio
    • Knowledge of current trends in design
    • Knowledge weaving and dying
    • Color theory
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite* Specifically Photoshop and InDesign
    • Knowledge of pattern repeat and scale as applied to textile design
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
    • Ability to think quickly and creatively
    • Eagerness to learn and be proactive with new tasks
    • Must be punctual, organized, and detail oriented
    • Good oral and written communications skills
    • Good Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

    • The process of rug design from initial concept to final output
    • Bringing a product to market
    • Understanding the many constructions and weave structures that go into rug design
    • Color theory - as applied to rug design
    • Creating CADs for Production
    • The ancient art of rug making
    • Mentoring from industry leaders
    • Pom box management
    • Pulling pom colors for mills
    • Creation of yarn cards
    • Color matching
