    THE SENIOR BENEFITS SPECIALIST OVERSEES AND ADMINISTERS WRIGHT-PATT CREDIT UNION SPONSORED EMPLOYEE BENEFITS PLANS, WORKS DIRECTLY WITH WRIGHT-PATT’S APPOINTED BROKER AND VENDORS, AND HANDLES THE DAY-TO-DAY OPERATION OF THE EMPLOYEE BENEFITS PLANS, WITH OVERSIGHT FROM THE DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES.

     

    1. Administers and serves as escalated contact for customer service concerns for benefits programs to include: medical/prescription, dental, vision, health spending accounts, workers’ compensation, employee assistance, supplemental insurance, disability, 401(k), executive benefits, and COBRA; processes partner-employee enrollments and oversees the annual open enrollment period; acts as leader of Wright-Patt Credit Union’s robust wellness program committee. Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed.  Reports gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership to ensure member impact and risk is mitigated. (25%)
    2. Prepares reporting as needed for vendors, internal partners, or management. Also maintains electronic enrollment tracking and process records, working closely with the HRIS Administrator. (10%)
    3. Administers day-to-day needs of the compensation program to include market pricing, internal equity reviews, structure analyses, triennial competitiveness reviews, completion of market surveys and annual inflationary trend assessments. (10%)
    4. Responsible for appropriate maintenance of compliance document records and may also work with vendors, brokers, or outside counsel to update these documents. Tracks Affordable Care Act compliance with assistance of third party vendor. Reports required disclosures or filings to state or federal agencies as needed. (10%)
    5. Works collaboratively with the Leave Coordinator on escalated partner-employee leave matters and with the Benefits Coordinator on day-to-day escalated partner-employee benefits concerns; serves as back-up for these positions as needed. (10%)
    6. Educates employees on eligibility, coverage, and plan options to include 401K and other benefits matters. This includes in-person classroom-style training, satellite location visits, as well as live virtual and recorded sessions. (10%)
    7. Drafts and issues ongoing partner-employee communications related to benefits plans and wellness programming, including annual enrollment communications. (10%)
    8. Keeps Human Resources Director informed of any escalated partner-employee issues to ensure swift resolution. (5%)
    9. Assists Accounting and Human Resources Director with setting annual budgets for benefits plans and works with the HRIS administrator on system benefit plan set-ups. (5%)
    10. Stays up-to-date on emerging trends in the benefits and compensation arena to suggest proactive changes to Wright-Patt Credit Union plans. Also notes ongoing vendor or claims issues to ensure the partner-employee experience meets our standards of providing simply extraordinary service excellence. (5%)

    Required Skills

    1. Bachelor’s degree in HR, communications, business or related field and three to five years equivalent experience in a benefits-focused HR role with the majority of time spent on benefits program and retirement plan administration, compliance, and vendor management.
    2. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Employment Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation, or other HR certifications (PHR, SHRM, etc.) is preferred but not necessary.
    3. Demonstrated knowledge of ERISA, Internal Revenue Code (benefit related), ADA, FMLA, HIPAA, PPACA, and COBRA regulations and a demonstrated continued learning focus.
    4. Demonstrated ability to understand accounting and finance concepts.
    5. Demonstrated project management, problem solving and researching skills and ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
    6. Previous experience sourcing and managing vendor contracts and managing vendor relationships.
    7. Comfortable communicating complex matters regarding benefits in an approachable way to individuals or to groups. Excels in training others on benefits topics and enjoys the challenge of making the subject matter approachable.
