    POSITION OVERVIEW:  

    The Global Trade & Logistics Specialist – International Transportation is responsible for the execution of strategy and processes resulting in the fluid, efficient, and cost-effective international movement of goods.  This position will be required to coordinate with customers, and service providers, throughout the international move to ensure the best service selection, proper billing, and timely updates of necessary details has been clearly documented & communicated.  The Global Trade & Logistics Specialist – International Transportation drive the maximization of efficiencies in the international movement of goods in order to provide best in class customer service.  Through the coordination of processes and practices across a wide mix of stakeholders and a customer base made up of internal and external organizations seeking a trusted transportation partner, this position will rely on drive and motivation to bridge the knowledge gap between customers, suppliers and carriers involved in international movement.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBITLIES include the following and all other duties assigned:

    • Responsible for quoting, planning, scheduling, evaluating, executing transportation services for international shipments.
    • Prepare, process, and maintain all necessary transportation documentation & information – both in and out of various operating systems – required for the compliant movement of international goods.
    • Facilitate the coordination of various service providers (e.g. forwarders, agents, brokers, carriers, etc.) to obtain and update shipment tracking and information.
    • Collaborate with internal and external customers, service providers, and partners – both locally and overseas.
    • Negotiate rates, audit carrier invoices and assist in the billing process to ensure accuracy in data & pricing for client and vendor billings.
    • Develop strong interaction, in and amongst customers, service providers, and the internal team to ensure fluid, efficient movement of international goods.
    • Assist with developing, implementing, and improving transportation policies and procedures employed within the company.
    • Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints in a timely manner through collaboration with stakeholders across multiple functional areas.
    • Report on monthly metrics related to the movement of goods, carrier performance, and related freight metrics.
    • Comply with all applicable transportation regulations, international trade regulations, and company policies.
    • Ensure compliance with safety, security, regulatory, and company policies;
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
    • Logistics, transportation & supply chain experience a must.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in international freight forwarding (Air- and Ocean freight) preferred.
    • High standard of professionalism and ethics.
    • Preferred style of teamwork, collaboration, and humility.
    • Ability to analyze complex business situations and develop creative business solutions.
    • Strong business acumen and forward thinking
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and with written communications.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple assigned tasks and execute parallel tasks in a high-pressure environment.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical ability
    • Customer focused work attitude
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
    • SAP knowledge is a plus
    • Fluency in German, a plus
    • Little, if any, travel required
