ABOUT THE MECHANICAL ENGINEERING INTERNSHIP

This is an exciting opportunity to extend your learning beyond the classroom. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will first be trained in the general use of Laser Light Scattering measurements, specific opto-mechanics for analytical optical instruments, WTC's documentation process and ISO quality system. With that knowledge, and mentored by a WTC Mechanical Engineer, you will perform system level evaluation new design, improve the current products, and design opto-mechanics tools for production and R&D teams. You will keep very careful records of the problems that were found and will present findings of results regarding any patterns of failures. You will also contribute improvements to documentation and procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree-seeking program at the Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate level.
• Knowledge of basic opto-mechanics designs, e.g., lens mount.
• Experience in troubleshooting and debugging hardware problems.
• Experience in engineering lab equipment (digital multi meters, oscilloscopes, etc.)
• Experience in Autodesk inventor or similar CAD software is required.
• Hands-on skills in machine shop are preferred.
