    R&D ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

    Wyatt Technology is looking for an entry level, skilled, self-motivated, and innovative electrical engineer who can execute project tasks, provide deliverables to schedule, be a collaborative team player, and who has a strong drive to deliver high quality results to customers.

    You will be developing new electronics and improving existing electronic designs which are incorporated into the world's most advanced instruments which perform Static Light Scattering, Dynamic Light Scattering, and Electrophoretic Light Scattering measurements.

    This is a great opportunity to interact with senior engineers and scientists and to work on measurement of low noise analog signals, signal conditioning, ADC/DAC, microcontrollers, FPGAs/CPLDs, control systems, embedded computers, etc. You will work alongside the industry's most talented physicists and engineers.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Troubleshoot instruments and its components
    • Find the root cause of electronics issues with instruments in manufacturing and make design changes to prevent reoccurrence
    • Design and evaluate electronic circuits, read and draw schematics, simulate analog and digital designs, and test circuits using bread board methods
    • Design and evaluate embedded firmware using embedded C, VHDL, and Verilog
    • Use desktop programming or scripting languages to perform test and analysis
    • Design and draw cables, wiring diagrams, and block diagrams for electrical modules
    • Specify off the shelf electrical components (i.e. power supplies, power entry modules)
    • Assemble prototype cables and boards for design evaluation and verification
    • Provide technical assistance to Manufacturing and Service
    • Prepare technical documentation for Engineering Changes

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
    • Must be skilled using the Altium design software package or similar schematic and PCB design packages
    • Must be able to assemble and disassemble cables, boards, and electronic modules
    • Must be able to create breadboard circuits by hand
    • Must be able to work with surface mount components (i.e. soldering and unsoldering skills)
    • Must be capable of performing data analysis and plotting results using Excel or other equivalent tools
