    What we are looking for:
    Wyatt Technology is seeking a Texas Regional Field Application Scientist (“FAS”) to increase sales and expand our customer base in the states of: TX, CO, NM, OK, LA and MO. The primary responsibility of the FAS will be to drive sales of our full range of light scattering instruments, GPC detectors, and separation systems, accessories, and services. Up to 50% of your time will be spent in the field, with a regional focus on travel in the designated region but may also include other regions of the country when called upon. The FAS will work out of a home-based office, and may live anywhere within the designated region.

    The ideal candidate will be a self-starter in implementing a territorial business plan working in unison with the inside sales team and marketing colleagues in delivering on aggressive call cycles and business development activities; to develop a keen understanding of the customers' needs and challenges and to design solutions with lasting and meaningful business impact to our customers. Most often our customers are PhD scientists involved in the research and development of new therapeutic drugs and nanomaterials and are employed primarily in the pharmaceutical, academic, and government research arenas.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Meet or exceed sales targets.
    • Maintain established base customer satisfaction.
    • Aggressively develop new prospects and break into competitive accounts.
    • Visit customers, to highlight Wyatt’s solutions to customer’s needs and challenges.
    • Build and maintain technical competency on Wyatt’s solutions and be perceived, by customers, as a credible technical resource.
    • Establish initial contacts and leads with decision makers, answering inquiries and maintaining accurate records of sales activity using CRM software.
    • Monitor competitor activity and trends within the territory as well as providing accurate and timely monthly sales forecasts.
    • Develop business through monthly plans of action.
    • Travel as needed for sales meetings, sales training and tradeshows.

    Requirements and Qualifications:

    • BS or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or other related field.
    • Five plus years of field sales experience. Experience selling chromatography, MS or particle characterization products preferred. 
    • Proven track record of success selling in the past.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently, with initiative and good, ethical, business judgment.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to learn and utilize CRM quickly and efficiently.
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to draw conclusions and observations from market trends and unit analysis.
    • Substantiated capability to negotiate and close business.
    • Clean driving record required.

    Compensation:

    This position carries a direct sales quota and is eligible for commission variable compensation tied to a performance goal. Base compensation includes company paid health, dental, vision and life insurance, holidays, combined vacation and sick leave program and disability insurance. Employees also enjoy a generous 401(k) plan as well as a quarterly bonus program.
