    Job Description

    The Special Operations Guard (SOG) Manager is responsible for oversight, support, and guidance of Special Operations Guard Supervisors and Officers. Special Operations Guard Managers will oversee the administrative and operational requirements of the Special Operations Guard shift – in order for the S.O.G. element to effectively deter, detect, and when necessary, respond to terrorist/lethal acts as well as other active security/safety events such as fires, riots, demonstrations, and evacuations. Manage programs and processes to reduce and control loss time injuries. Review staffing levels to maintain full coverage of posts and assignments. Delegate authority and assign responsibilities. Investigate incidents with Hotel Security and Hotel Management and compile data for accurate reporting.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    The following essential functions are not intended to be all-inclusive nor restrictive; other duties may be assigned as necessary.

    • At direction and supervision of Assistant Director/Executive Director, assist in management, supervision, coordination, and operation of Special Operations Guard Supervisors and Officers.
    • Responsibilities include screening candidates, interviewing, range assessment, hiring, and training of Special Operations Guards; planning, assigning, and directing work efforts; appraising performance, rewarding, and discipling Special Operations Guards; tracking attendance, relaying commendations and preparing shift schedules, tracking quantifiable statistical operational data; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Accountable for investigating, analyzing, resolving guest/employee incidents for security purposes, and responding to litigation interrogatories related to incidents occurring on property.
    • Conduct daily site inspections of Special Operations Guards, SOG Posts, produces end-of-shift reports, review incident reports and Use of Force (UoF) reports.
    • Responsible for the accurate inventory, tracking, ordering, and notification of shortfalls for all SOG gear, equipment, and controlled equipage.
    • Will lead quarterly proficiency and development training, including a firearms training and qualification and close quarter combat training, and may be terminated if not completed within the department specific guidelines.
    • Will investigate and respond to any significant incidents, or incidents requested by the SOG manager.
    • Will take charge of incidents that require a higher operational skill level, such as incidents involving weapons or suspects known to illicit physically aggressive behavior.
    • Will provide medical assistance to any employee or guest, in accordance with their medical training, until proper local medical response units arrive and take control of the emergency.
    • Will assist civil and law enforcement authorities in administrative proceedings and provide voluntary statements, to assist in resolving any incidents on property, up to and including testimony in court.
    • Will appropriately review and document all incidents, in accordance with the security department guidelines, to include voluntary statements and department specific incident/reporting requirements.
    • Ensure consistency of all patrons and employee’s interactions are in accordance with Forbes Five Star standards to maintain the standards of the Wynn Las Vegas, while promoting hotel facilities and services.
    • Responsible for effectively dealing with internal and external patrons, some of whom will require levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
    • Responsible for addressing patron issues or complaints in a timely manner and coordinating with Hotel Management as necessary.
    • Maintain high standards of resort appearance by continuously walking the floors, inspecting public areas, as well as back of house areas. Identify and correct conditions which may impact patron or employee experience.
    • Work closely with Security Management, Hotel Management, Guest Claims, Crisis Management, Safety and Engineering to ensure the overall safety and security of our patrons and employees.
    • Understands and is well-versed in the resort, hotel features and services.
    • Performs administrative duties to include, but not limited to Kronos, Virtual Roster, shift count, chargeback, attendance, overtime justification, back of house report, steady extra report, pre-shift brief and other admin duties assigned by leadership.
    • Responsible for payroll, compensation, vacation, and other benefits tracking; in addition to, maintenance of applicable licenses and work cards.
    • Understand and carry out progressive discipline in accordance with company policy as necessary.
    • Always sets outstanding example for all SOGs and security officers by maintaining a professional appearance.
    • Know, adhere to, and enforce the Wynn policies and procedures.
    • Patrol the property to observe persons and activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws and Wynn policies.
    • Be the liaison to, and work in conjunction with, LVMPD to resolve issues of a criminal nature.
    • Maintain command and control of all safety and security scenes.
    • Ensure sufficient and appropriate SOGs response for incident and scene management.
    • Actively communicates company updates, policy changes, hotel occupancy, special events, and messages from senior management to all team members in the department.
    • Maintain knowledge of applicable gaming, city, state, and federal laws.
    • Responsible for thorough and timely completion of special projects/assignments.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 4 years of military or law enforcement service, relevant armed professional experience may be utilized to supplement and achieve the required minimum of 4 years.
    • Minimum of 2 years Supervisor experience in hotel/casino armed security, law enforcement, or military is highly preferred.
    • Must be able to obtain a Nevada CCW (Carrying Concealed Weapon) within six months of hire date or must possess a HR 218 (Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act card).
    • Must be able to obtain and possess a valid Nevada Gaming Registration, an Alcohol Awareness Card (AES), First Aid & CPR certifications, must acquire a valid Nevada Driver's License upon employment.
    • Must be able to meet Wynn Firearms Qualification requirements
    • Honorable discharge required if applying with prior military experience.
    • Must be 21 years of age or older.
    • High school graduate or equivalent is required, college graduate preferred.
    • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to work alone and within a team environment.
    • Ability to communicate in English fluently and professionally. Additional languages are welcomed.
    • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, along with a working knowledge of basic computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook email etc.).
    • This position is not eligible for Remote work.
