Wynn Las Vegas is seeking a highly skilled, passionate and experienced learning and development professional who would be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Learning and Development department in addition to designing, implementing, and facilitating training programs at all levels. This role is responsible for overseeing the learning and development specialists, managing multiple projects with competing deadlines, training design and implementation, and LMS administration. As a leader in L&D, this role will also be facilitating company-wide learning programs and mentoring others.
Responsibilities
Ensures Wynn’s standard of excellence is consistently upheld across all departmental activities.
Manage the execution of short-and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement. Identifies key drivers of success.
Manages the departmental performance, and the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental policies and procedures; records and reports.
Manages the performance of team members under his/her area of responsibility.
Monitors all activities of the department to ensure that all applicable internal policies, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and controls property-wide are enforced.
Ensures department delivers and maintains a maximum level of property-wide service and satisfaction by regularly monitoring participant evaluations and providing feedback.
Develops L&D Facilitators by cofacilitating, observing, and recording facilitation while providing immediate feedback and coaching.
Supports the Director in the development and implementation of learning initiatives.
Applies project management skills to handle multiple concurrent programs with competing deadlines.
Co-manages the Learning Management System (LMS) with team managing audiences, launching new courses, creating scripts and videos, designing eLearning for property-wide, division and department initiatives.
Applies adult learning theory and processes to develop instructor led and online class content, training aids (i.e. case studies, simulations, games, exercises, etc.) and support material.
Collaborates with department executives to design custom learning interventions for departments using the ADDIE model.
Facilitates company-wide leadership development programs.
Creates, facilitates, and evaluates front-line focused training programs.
Supervises, coordinates, and tracks attendance at all mandatory company-wide training events.
Consults and collaborates with Wynn Resorts training partners to share best practices and resources.
Engages in self-directed work, creates and maintains timetables for projects, manages deadlines and resources, and works with a wide degree of creativity and latitude as well as minimal supervision.
Assists in research and recommendations for outside training support such as higher education initiatives, ESL, D&I and eLearning.
Mentors junior team members within L&D for internal career development on adult learning theory, project management, instructional design and facilitation skills providing formal feedback and support.
Reports to the Director of Learning & Development.
Performs additional responsibilities as needed or requested.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality or related field and at least 5 years of training/facilitation experience and hotel/casino operations experience (or an equivalent combination of training, education and professional experience).
Experience with general hotel operations or hospitality industry in a frontline operational role with the ability to relate to and support a high level of guest service focus across all departments is preferred.
1-3 years of people management experience.
Demonstrated ability to create engaging learning that includes instructor led, classroom, and on the job approaches that achieve measurable results.
Knowledge and use of Standard English, correct grammar and ability to edit detailed documents.
Well-versed in Adult Learning Theory and how to engage adult learners using a variety of activities.
Proficient with training needs assessment, creative instructional design, and measuring outcomes.
Must have exceptional communication and facilitation skills, both verbal and written, with the proven ability to communicate to all levels of the organization.
Strong and effective decision maker with ability to influence outcomes.
Proactive self-starter with excellent organizational skills and the ability to balance conflicting priorities as well as meet deadlines under pressure.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software to include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Ability to create graphs, photos, sound, charts, graphics, etc., in all applications.
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to support a 24/7 operation.
Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
Must model the ideal professional and polished appearance required by company guidelines.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
