     ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    This role reports directly to the Chief Actuary and is responsible for overseeing the Reserving & Claims Analytics (R&CA) function in North America.  In addition to working independently and in teams on internal initiatives, this role also participates in client engagements, relationship management. 

    • Manages team members through global matrix organizational structure
    • Works collaboratively with the A&A Account Executive on client engagements and drive usage of A&A services
    • Peer reviews work done by other A&A team members
    • Leads R&CA R&D initiatives
    • Demonstrate Leadership in the insurance industry via
      • Thought leadership articles and white papers
      • Presentations at industry events
      • Participate in podcast/blog discussions
      • Contributing to actuarial literature
    • Represent Xceedance at industry events
    • Brings technical and subject matter expertise to all R&CA related discussions
    • Setting reserves for short and long tailed lines
    • As the appointed actuary for clients, create/review and sign Statement of Actuarial Opinion, Actuarial Opinion Summary and Actuarial Report
    • Remain current on COPLFR Actuarial Loss Reserves and Loss Reserves Law Manual
    • Allocate IBNR as needed to support client initiatives
    • Oversees the development and enhancement of reserving tools

    EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

    • FCAS
    • Strong research and analytical skills
    • 15 years+ of insurance industry experience
    • Effective verbal and writing communication skills
    • Experience in Personal Homeowners & Auto, Commercial Prop, GL, Auto. Exposure to other LOBs and specialty lines preferred
    • Performed reserve variability studies
    • Created benchmarks to support reserving of immature lines
    • Provided claims analytics to claims leadership and influenced the setting of claims reserves and handling best practices
    • Created and presented management reports
    • Interfaced with Finance, Claims and IT on technology initiatives
    • Worked with pricing team to reconcile differences in actuarial assumptions
    • Led Risk/Reserving committee meetings and presented to the board (preferred)
    • Consulting experience (preferred)
    • Experience with stochastic reserving methodologies and best practices (preferred)
    • Reinsurance experience (preferred)
    • Catastrophe modeling experience (preferred)
    • Demonstrated leadership in the insurance industry and/or Actuarial Society Committee (preferred)

     

    LOCATION

    • Work from anywhere in the U.S with access to virtual workspace
    • Ability to travel 15% to 30% of the time with occasional international trip
