Our mission is to enhance the performance and safety of cell and gene therapies through the design and development of a suite of innovative technology platforms. Our commercial instruments and AI-driven software enable researchers to discover novel insights into immune and tumor biology. Our product development team is working to translate these insights at patient-scale, through the development of a novel cell therapy manufacturing technology. We are focused specifically on the cell therapy processing unit function of cell maintenance and expansion to leverage our unique IP positioning and know-how to improve therapeutic potency and persistence during the manufacturing process.     DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

    We are looking for a creative, technically-minded individual with recent experience in bioengineering materials and cell biology oriented-research applications for immune cells, to join our recent Series B-funded high growth startup as a bioengineering intern. Key responsibilities will be focused on cell therapy consumable development in ex vivo cell culture applications to optimize against several user requirements, including gas permeability. This includes evaluation and testing of multiple materials (e.g., silicone, FEP, Polyolefin) and formats (e.g., hollow fiber, novel bag designs) against user requirements.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Masters, PhD or post-doctoral researcher, with 3+ years of direct research experience in life science materials, and specifically with immune cell-focused materials
    • The ideal candidate will have had research applications that provided exposure to bioprocessing and/or cell therapy oriented materials and related manufacturing workflow considerations
    • Some experience with primary immune cell culture, good sterile technique, and a problem solving mindset required
    • Ideal candidate would have an interest in startups and weekly bandwidth to support defined, project-based product development goals within our startup
    • Time required and scope of project are flexible and to be determined based on the candidate's availability
    • Role will be based in SF and require some travel to our lab in Mission Bay District of San Francisco.
    • Successful internships may result in authorship on a related manuscript and patent inventorship
