    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

    This full-time position is ideally suited for individuals who prefer working in the lab. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and optimizing cell expansion and differentiation protocols for primary human immune cells (T-cells, NK cells, Dendritic Cells, Macrophages) and/or induced pluripotent cells. Functional, molecular and phenotypic assays will be performed to characterize the impact of culture conditions on primary cells.  The successful applicant will work in a multidisciplinary, small team setting, interfacing with scientists, software and hardware engineers. Strong technical expertise in primary cell culture, flow cytometry, tissue and blood processing, and molecular biology techniques are required.  Candidates with skillsets in transfection/nucleofection, gene-editing techniques (CRISPR), CAR-T construct design and RNA-seq are encouraged to apply.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • MSc or PhD with minimum 3+ years with primary cell culture experience (immune and/or stem cells)
    • Highly motivated self-starter who can prioritize and “take ownership” of tasks
    • Comfortable solving problems independently
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility when multi-tasking
    • Must be comfortable in a seed-stage start-up environment, and with a mix of cash, equity, milestone-based compensation

    PREFERRED TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

    • Primary cell culture expertise with immune and/or induced pluripotent stem cells 
    • Multiparametric flow cytometry and data analysis (FlowJo)
    • Immunofluorescence staining and microscopy-based imaging
    • Peripheral blood and/or tissue processing
    • Primary cell reprogramming and iPS generation
    • iPSC differentiation into HSCs and/or NPCs
    • Immune cell based assays (MLR, cytotoxicity, cytokine profiling)
    • In vitro functional assays (tumor/target killing assays)
    • Transfection, electroporation and viral transduction workflows
    • Gene-editing in immune and/or stem cells (viral or CRISPR-Cas9)
    • Plasmid construct design and cloning (CAR-T, TCR)
    • Primary tumor processing and in vitro culture
    • DNA and RNA extraction / quantitation
    • NGS, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq
