  • Responsibilities

    A premier medium & heavy-duty fleet diesel repair shop servicing the Salt Lake County area is in need of an journeyman experienced diesel mechanic. This is a Monday – Friday day-shift “direct-hire” opportunity to work in a shop that is not flat rate.

    Benefits of the Shop Diesel Mechanic Diesel Technician Position:

    • Starting Wage: $42.00 - $52.00 an hour to start DOE - this is not a "flat-rate" shop.
    • Full Benefits offered including Medical, Dental, Vision, paid time off, and paid holidays
    • Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm
    • This is a “direct-hire” opportunity and not a “contract” or “temp” position.

    Responsibilities of the Shop Diesel Mechanic Diesel Technician position include:

    • Complete maintenance on medium & heavy-duty diesel engines, tractor trailer, bobcats, forklifts, mobile crane, skid steer and other construction equipment

    • Inspect vehicles to identify problems

    • Perform breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance to improve reliability of equipment

    • Troubleshoot and repair

    • Must be willing to work as part of a team, with a positive safety attitude.

    • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

    Requirements for the Shop Diesel Mechanic Diesel Technician position:

    • 2-year technical school graduate preferred or a minimum of 5-8 years of experience maintaining and repairing Class 5 - class 8 trucks. Heavy duty equipment technician or rental equipment technician experience will be considered. Must have an Electrical and mechanical aptitude

    • Current Cummins, CAT, or Detroit Diesel certifications preferred but not required.

    • Owns & maintains the tools to complete repairs based on experience.

    • Effective Problem-solving skills and electronic diagnostic equipment experience is required

    • Must have a valid Utah Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record. A current Class A or Class B CDL is a plus but not required.

    • Previous stick & MIG welding experience is also preferred but not required.

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance manuals, instructions, and procedure manuals is required
