  • Responsibilities

    A national transportation company is in immediate need of a Director of Maintenance Operations. This position is responsible for managing all dedicated and OTR shop locations across the US. 

    The Director of Maintenance Operations is also responsible for overseeing all new equipment in-processing and trade equipment preparation as well as managing all recalls, retrofits, and campaigns.

    • Starting Salary: $130k - $145k with a quarterly bonus potential.

    • This is a “direct-hire” opportunity and not a “contract” or “temp” position. 

    Responsibilities for the Director of Maintenance Operations position includes:

    • Organized and self-driven. This individual must be able to work independently and with little direction. Being able to multi-task and keep track of many tasks at the same time is critical for this position.

    • Must have an understanding of expense tracking, budgeting and basic accounting principles.

    • Must have experience managing and tracking projects from the task level up with the consistent goal of on time and on budget performance.

    • Must demonstrate a sense of urgency when getting things done. The Director Maintenance Operations must be able to gain clear understanding of the work and drive tasks to an on time completion.

    • Communication is essential in this position.

    • This position gets results through the work of others. Must be able to cultivate and maintain excellent relationships with site and division managers.

    • Must have at least 10 years experience in managing maintenance projects directly or from a corporate level. This includes schedules, pricing, and negotiation.

    • The ability to manage vendor issues and ensure that the maintenance is done on time and within cost constraints. Be comfortable providing direct, honest feedback and hold vendors accountable.

    Qualifications for the Director of Maintenance Operations position include:

    • Minimum of a 4-year Bachelor's degree in a specified field or business-related field and commensurate work-related experience is required.

    • Previous Transportation operations and/or maintenance experience is required.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills with mechanics, operations, safety, drivers, adjusters, claimants, and departmental management is a must.

    • Previous Operations Management and/or Maintenance Management experience is preferred.

    • Organized, Multitasking individual

    • Excellent Written and Verbal Communications skills

    • Ability to travel 1 to 2 weeks per month to oversee Maintenance Operations throughout the United States

    • Prefer experience with Heavy Duty Vehicle Maintenance

    • Superior Management & Leadership skills

    • Experienced in vendor relations and management of technicians

    • Excellent working knowledge of analytical and database tools.
