  • Responsibilities

    Immediate need for an experienced Service Technician Mechanic / Millwright to be responsible for inspecting and repairing mechanical operating equipment as well as performing routine preventative maintenance. This role will require strong problem solving skills, the drive to achieve results, and an unwavering commitment to put safety first. The position interfaces with other maintenance employees, craftspeople, production employees and service providers.

    This position is located in the Portland area and has a rotating day & night schedule.

    Benefits for the Service Technician Mechanic / Millwright position include:

    • Starting Wage: $38.00-$42.00 an hour to start

    • Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts with 4-days on, 4-days off. Total of 8-night shifts a month with a $1.50 an hour shift differential for the night shifts. Starting at either 6:00am or 6:00pm

    • Full benefits are offered and start day one of employment and include “low cost” medical, dental & vision insurance, paid holidays, 401k with 5% match, paid time off and an additional company funded retirement savings account.

    • All tools required for the position are provided.

    • This is a “direct-hire” opportunity and not a “temp” or “contract” position.

    Responsibilities for the Service Technician Mechanic / Millwright position include:

    • Repairs and/or replaces and weld manufacturing machines using manual, hydraulic, pneumatic, and precision tools of the trade

    • Reads repair documents, work orders, manuals, blueprints, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures

    • Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, cranes, lever chain hoists, dollies, rollers, and lift trucks

    • Utilizes industry alignment and torque specifications to assemble, install, tears down, replace, or rebuild machinery and equipment including pumps, drivelines, couplings, bearings, conveyors, cylinders, and process rolls, gearboxes, motors, chains, or sprockets

    • Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs and other precision tools and develops understanding of best practices for alignments

    • Mechanically inspects and repairs cranes and crane runways (overhead, rail and track)

    • Tracks all maintenance tasks & repairs and documents work performed daily with detailed comments on work orders

    Requirements for the Service Technician Mechanic / Millwright position include:

    • Completion of a 4-year Millwright apprenticeship program or 6-8 years of hands on mechanical maintenance millwright / service mechanic technician experience in an industrial facility required

    • Journeyman Millwright with two years of experience in a heavy industrial environment preferred

    • Millwright / Service Mechanic Technician specific training in bearing maintenance, lubrication, or inspection and assembly preferred

    • Experience with work order system software including documents, tasks, and procedures preferred

    • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings of machinery and hydraulics

    • Ability to operate mobile cranes, forklift, man lift, scissor lift

    • Ability to use pipe fitting tools and equipment; i.e. Pipe threading machine and accessories

    • Ability to troubleshoot hydraulics, pneumatics systems including assembling hydraulic hoses properly to a specification

    • Previous Arc / MIG welding, carbon arcing, hand torch burning, O2 pin lance experience is required. Must have at least your own welding hood.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of confined space procedures, fall protection, harness –SRL systems, Lock Out / Tag Out processes

    • Knowledge of rigging and sling applications as well as crane cable changes

    • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for alignment, motor to coupling, gearbox, process roll alignment with use of dial indicators, feelers gauges, straight edge and/or laser alignment

    • Proficient in the use of computer programs including MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

    • Good problem solving and analytical skills

    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to organize information in a way that is detailed, clear, and understandable to a variety of audiences

    • Strong math skills including algebra and/or shop math

    • Proficiency in the use of predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, ultrasound, laser alignment, etc.) preferred.
