    Are you an outside person who can’t get enough walking or hiking here in Utah and can use a GPS device? This entry-level position provides the opportunity to learn on-the-job and build your career with a respected & talented team of professionals in a dynamic organization.

    This is an entry-level Field Survey / Customer Service Tech position and training is provided.

    The Field Survey position will perform identification, inspection, and evaluation of vegetation and determine required activities throughout Utah neighborhoods. You will meet with property owners to explain the tree management process.

    BENEFITS FOR THE FIELD SURVEY / CUSTOMER SERVICE TECH INCLUDE:

    • STARTING WAGE: $16.00 - $19.00 AN HOUR DOE
    • Schedule. Monday – Friday day shift usually 8-10 hours a day
    • This is a "direct-hire" opportunity.
    • Company vehicle provided.

    ROLE OBJECTIVES FOR THE FIELD SURVEY / CUSTOMER SERVICE TECH INCLUDE:

    • The position specializes in identifying and planning work for application crews
    • Learn utility vegetation management, arboriculture, soils, public relations, tree management and geospatial analysis.
    • Act as a liaison between the Utility Company and customers in planning of related work
    • Inputting specified data into ARC GIS.
    • The position requires daily contact with the clients and the public. Perform duties in a manner that will promote and maintain good public relations.

    RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE FIELD SURVEY / GIS TECH INCLUDE:

    • Evaluation of vegetation and determining the required activities
    • Perform identification, inspection, and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines throughout Utah neighborhoods.
    • Meet with customers to explain removal work.
    • Collaborate with the application teams to complete work
    • Follow all safety requirements
    • Willing to travel throughout the entire state at times. Vehicle, accommodations and per diem is provided

    REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FIELD SURVEY / GIS TECH INCLUDE:

    • Education and Work Experience: AA or BS Degree in urban forestry, Natural Resource Science/Management, Horticulture, biology, environmental science or related field and/or experience in utilities highly desired.
    • Physically capable of walking/hiking many miles a day in all types of weather here in Utah.
    • Valid Utah driver’s license with a clean driving record.
    • Most be computer & smart phone app proficient.
    • Experience of techniques & equipment used for vegetation management.
    • Experience or ability to learn GIS and GPS applications. Previous map reading experience is a must.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities, time management, detail oriented, accurate, and exceptional interpersonal are required.
