Communicate with network of drayage carriers to request rates and availability, dispatch load assignments, and manage scheduling/completion of shipments
Dispatch and confirm shipments in our Transportation Management System (TMS)
Closely monitor shipments, always striving towards defect free service for our customers
Advise customers of any variances including additional charges, revised dates/times, and updated requirements
Seek, vet, and on-board additional drayage vendors based on market needs
Liaise between our vendors and customers to assure the smooth execution of shipments and the agreed rate
Monitor carrier movement from shipper to receiver to ensure shipments are picked up/delivered on time and in the intended condition
Ensure timely update of shipment milestones into our TMS
Provide feedback regarding carrier performance
Request and audit all necessary shipping and carrier documents
Work with management to ensure alignment with company strategy in forecasting and business plans
Recommend changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments
Monitor industry trends and how key factors impact business strategies for our company and our customers
Respond to high volume of communications daily
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1 year of recent experience within the transportation industry, preferably with an NVOCC/Freight Forwarder, FCL drayage carrier, or terminal (port or railroad)
Excellent customer service, communication (both verbal & written), problem solving and negotiation skills are required
Ability to perform in a high speed, deadline-driven environment with rapidly changing priorities
High degree of initiative and independent execution
Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word
