Overall Responsibility Responsible for front office activities, including the reception area, mail, including insurance verification and patient data integrity. Acting as patient concierge for the reception/lobby area by providing excellent customer service.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Greet patients in waiting area, assure patient flow runs smoothly and efficiently, add data to system accurately.
Obtain registration data, insurance info, and photo ID.
Collect co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles in accordance to patients plan.
Verify all insurance according to patient’s card.
Abide by all HIPPA guidelines and explain practices to patients.
Balance daily charges.
Perform patient call backs, arrange referrals (if needed) and send patient info as requested.
Assist staff where needed.
Keep lobby clean and stocked with necessary items.
Skills and Attributes
Ability to accurately read and understand insurance summary data.
Ability to work all shifts including, day and weekend hours as needed.
Ability to escort or transport patient by wheelchair or stretcher when appropriate.
Basic computer skills including familiarity with electronic medical records.
Types 25 words per minute with 96% accuracy.
Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Prior medial office experience helpful.
