    Job Description

    We are seeking a talented Chemist to join our research & development team reporting to the Vice President of R&D.

    The ideal candidate is steeped in the world of chemistry with a PhD and an interest in laboratory research. The candidate will create, test and evaluate new electroplating processes and chemistries and materials to meet the toughest engineering applications.  They will leverage knowledge in synthetic chemistry to identify, build and test additives and chemical reactions that occur during plating in aqueous and ionic liquid based systems. Knowledge of characterization is required to evaluate the chemistry, using both internal and external resources as needed. They will partner with metallurgists and electrochemists in R&D as well as the Engineering team to help take ideas from R&D into commercialization.

    Job responsibilities for the position will include:

    • Electroplating chemistry and process development
    • Hands on plating work, testing chemistries and evaluating results
    • Chemical analysis process development for plating baths
    • Literature searching and invention for new alloy systems, chemistry, additives and methods
    • Investigation of aqueous and ionic liquid electrolyte systems
    • Provide technical expertise at customer meetings and technical conferences
    • Lead diverse project teams for new product development
    • Weekly reviews of results and work plans.

     

     

     

     

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate will have a combination of the following qualities and experience:

    ·       PHD in Chemistry or related degree plus 1-3 years experience preferred. Would consider MS in Chemistry or related degree plus 2+ plating experience in lab setting.

    ·       Hands-on experience with an industrial laboratory environment preferred. Experience in a glove-box environment is a plus.

    ·       Experience with chemical analysis techniques (AA, FTIR, XRF, EDS, titration, UV/VIS)

    ·       Ability to work independently as well as in groups

    ·       Organized, self-motivated, and action oriented, with the ability to adapt quickly to new challenges and opportunities
