    Xwing is seeking a highly experienced software engineer to lead the development of core back-end software systems and APIs for autonomous aviation. While this role does not require prior robotics or autonomous vehicle experience, it is valued. A successful candidate for this role will demonstrate an exceptional ability to navigate complex problems, break them down into more manageable components, clearly communicate an elegant solution and path to solving them that aligns with the company's priorities and objectives.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Lead the design and architecture of core software systems
    • Obtain buy-in on your design and architecture decisions
    • Communicate effectively within the company and with external partners
    • Mentor junior team members
    • Ensure that systems fulfill existing and future requirements
    • Continuously improve development tools and methods
    • Work with company leadership other tech leads (Embedded systems, GNC, Perception) to prioritize  the development roadmap

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • University degree in computer science / engineering or equivalent professional experience
    • 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience
    • Hands-on experience developing highly reliable and scalable software
    • Expert knowledge of at least one programming language
    • Working experience with AWS, Google Cloud Compute or Microsoft Azure clouds APIs
    • Accustomed to writing high-quality code, in an efficient and well-document manner
    • Experience working with various data storage systems and large datasets
    • Ability to work in a team and coordinate with other engineering teams per company priorities
    • Ability to challenge conventional thinking in a fact-based and professional manner

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Fluency in C++ and Python preferred
    • Experience building RESTful APIs
    • Experience with large scale deployments
    • Experience with ML pipelines
    • Experience with real-time systems
