    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Beat COVID-19 Initiative is a one-of-a-kind, culturally-responsive model to service the communities of Pawtucket and Central Falls, where the majority of residents feel uncomfortable getting tested and/or do not have a primary care doctor.  The overarching aim of this work is to provide Rhode Island’s most under-served residents with access to COVID-19 related information and support that is desperately needed.

    The Outreach Coordinator will primarily focus on being the boots-on-the-ground person tasked with getting information out to the community and managing a team of canvassers who will participate in disseminating COVID related information, support events and hand out personal protective equipment. This position works at minimum 30 hours per week.  NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS ARE A REQUIREMENT OF THE POSITION.  THIS IS AN HOURLY POSITION.  

    HOURLY SALARY RANGE IS $23-25 PER HOUR. 

    This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Bring together relevant resources and information to share directly with the community aimed at preventing the spread of the disease.
    • Act as a case manager, providing services to residents in need, at the direction of the Family Services Lead
    • Increase collaboration with BEAT COVID-19 and HEZ non-profits
    • Attend large-scale, pre-planned events to distribute information and masks
    • Attend Ad-hoc private gatherings, along with relevant authorities, to distribute information about disease reduction.
    • Outreach to local businesses to remind them of any requirements and best practices
    • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
    • Trains and supervises team of canvassers
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • One or more years’ experience in customer service
    • Must relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
    • Demonstrate strong customer service and organizational skills
    • General office and computer skills
    • Strong communication skills
    • First Aid/CPR/AED a plus

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    1. Ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time.
    2. Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
    3. Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
    4. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
    5. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
    6. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
    7. Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
