    SUMMARY

    As a YA Industrial Hygienist, you will provide high-quality consulting services relating to health hazards associated with catastrophic loss for YA’s customers, which include insurance companies, third-party adjusters and independent businesses and insureds. YA Hygienists are responsible for working independently on small to medium sized projects or on a team in cases of larger losses to manage each of our clients’ business and operations in defining and controlling costs associated with damaged structures. YA Hygienists are expected to use a large measure of independent judgement, considering, and weighing alternatives when appropriate, considering the financial and operational significance of the services being performed.   

    ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Recognize and evaluate potential health hazards and impacts associated with catastrophic loss. 
    • Conduct building inspections to identify any hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead-based paint, bacteria, mold, fire smoke, combustion byproducts, as well as other toxins or harmful agents. 
    • Collect samples and conduct airborne assessments of present toxic materials for analysis and exposure risk.  
    • Reviews and synthesizes relevant information to prepare and critique estimates, scopes, studies, protocols, and project reports. 
    • Performs analysis of invoices, budgets, schedules, and reports on behalf of the clients. 
    • Communicates and corresponds regularly with clients, insurance companies, adjusters, and insureds.  
    • Participates in regular client meetings and supports business development initiatives. 
    • Work independently on small to medium-sized projects and part of a team on larger losses, collaborating both internally and externally.    
    • Maintains job files, documentation, and other relevant deliverables. 
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, or equivalent years of experience. 
    • 3+ years of consulting experience conducting industrial hygiene projects. 
    • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred. 
    • Applicable Mold, Asbestos, and Lead certification/licenses are preferred. 
    • Familiarity with property damage insurance claims process. 
    • Ability to travel required.
