Bi-lingual Triage Specialist / Receptionist
Hourly Rate – $14.75 - $16.50
DESCRIPTION
The YWCA West Central Michigan – an organization committed to empowering women, promoting diversity, and advocating for justice and equality – is looking for a FULL TIME (40 HOURS PER WEEK) BI-LINGUAL (SPANISH/ENGLISH) TRIAGE SPECIALIST / RECEPTIONIST. The effort to end the crisis of domestic abuse and sexual violence is complex and consequently, the YWCA’s approach is multi-faceted. It includes an array of prevention and intervention services, as well as active participation in local, regional, and statewide collaborations. GENERAL SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general supervision, the Triage Specialist/Receptionist will greet/assist visitors in the YWCA Advocacy Resource Services area. This staff member will provide triage services: on the help-line, to individuals who walk-in seeking services, and to victims of sexual/domestic violence seeking a medical-forensic examination. This position will provide information; greet visitors, and direct customers to YWCA programs. This staff member will provide advocacy to victims receiving medical-forensic examinations as needed. As a representative of the YWCA, the ideal candidate must maintain a professional, courteous, and hospitable attitude in dealing with the public, visitors, and customers.
Applicants for this position must have a high level of energy, a positive attitude and be flexible and personable, with strong attention to detail and an ability to work with diverse populations who may be in crisis. The applicant must be able to organize and remain focused on projects in a busy office setting, and be available to work some evening hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or equivalent
· MINIMUM OF THREE YEARS RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
· ABILITY TO SPEAK BOTH SPANISH AND ENGLISH FLUENTLY
· Excellent telephone skills and the ability to relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds
· Demonstrated knowledge of filing, data entry procedures, word processing and spreadsheet applications
· Must be able to enter and retrieve data using computer systems, systems applications, and other office equipment
· Ability to follow written procedures, with some basic accounting experience helpful
· Familiarity with Micro Soft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Publisher) is highly desired
· Ability to concentrate and perform tasks with frequent interruptions. Must be able to maintain her/his professional composure with employees, customers and visitors while completing tasks within the required deadline
· Capable of communicating with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds
· Must be able to maintain professional composure when working with victims of sexual assault or domestic violence in the reception space or on the help line
