    Some technical requirements for this position are:

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Knowledge of frames, lens materials, contact lenses, and use of instrumentation required.
    • Ophthalmology /optometry practice experience required.
    • Experience in Electronic Health Records preferred.
    • Experience as a medical assistant or certificate helpful.
    • Skill in customer service.
    • Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
    • Skills in data-entry.
    • Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
    • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction.
    • Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetical or numeric systems.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish required and/or ability to sign.
    • Candidate has not been sanctioned or excluded from participation in federal or state healthcare programs by a federal or state law enforcement, regulatory, or licensing agency.

    Day to Day:

    • Prepare patients for examination and treatment.

    • Take patient histories, vital signs, and other standard intake procedures in preparation for optometrist’s review.

    • Administer tests to measure eyes and vision abilities of patients.

    • Perform variety of diagnostic testing – including but not limited to color and depth perception, near and far acuity, visual field, and macular integrity.

    • Assist optometrist with patient eye exams (adults and children).

    • Record results accurately in Electronic Health Records and other means as trained and instructed.

    • Assist in fitting, adjusting, and repairing eyeglasses for patients. Assist patients in selecting frames. Distribute/issue glasses as instructed by clinic policy.

    • Clean machines before and after exams, calibrate machines and ready them to perform testing.

    • Maintain organized, clean, efficient and confidential work area.

    • Perform related work and other tasks as requested.
