General Description of Major Tasks of Position The Cost Accountant reports directly to the Financial Controller and will be responsible for improving and maximizing profitability for developing models and overall profit for YJBM. This position will perform all activities necessary for costing accounting including standard costs, inventory, cost variances, fixed assets, budgeting, and forecasting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Assists in creation of overall budget/forecast plan including budget, forecast, revised budget, and mid-term plan. • Assists in maintaining of bill of materials for new models in addition of BOM comparison to similar products. • Conducts analysis of cost changes (model cost). • Estimates standard and target costs. Consults with other departments to discuss and formulate estimates. • Assists in inventory analysis in relation to cycle counts • Conducts analysis on material variances vs standards • Creates presentation materials pertaining to budget, model cost, development costs with PE, etc. • Organizes and reports on cost down activities. Allocates "gaps" to each department to implement cost down activities. • Assists in weekly and monthly capital functions and analysis. • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Educational and Work Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or a related major is required. • A minimum of 3-5 years of progressively more complex and responsible cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge and Skills • Competency with QAD, Easy Access or other accounting tools • Competency with Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) • Basic data entry skills • Demonstrated ability to interpret data and provide meaningful information to both a financial and non-financial audience. • Good listening and communication skills.
