    Summary

    The Childcare Provider is responsible for caring for the protection and wellbeing of children during community meetings and events. This position is on-call (as needed) with limited hours and requires evening and occasional weekend availability.

    Essential Duties

    1. Maintains a physically and emotionally safe environment for children.
    2. Implements age-appropriate, interactive brain building play and activities.
    3. Attends to children’s needs for toileting, feeding, etc.

    Job Duties

    • Implements creative application of interactive and age appropriate, engaging play.
    • Serves pre-prepared meals to children.
    • Maintains a physically and emotionally safe environment for children.
    • Maintains a positive relationship with children’s primary caregivers to ensure that the children’s physical and emotional needs are met.
    • Arrives 15 minutes prior to assignment and remains with children until all are reunited with family.
    • Maintains cleanliness of childcare area, toys, and supplies.

    Essential Department & Organizational Functions

    • Works to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable services, and working relationships with diverse groups of employees, community partners, and community members.
    • Works closely with Early Learning and Community Health to assist with childcare needs.
    • Maintains agreed upon work schedule with punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
    • Maintains professional level of responsive communication regarding changes in agreed upon schedule.
    • Demonstrates cooperation and teamwork using a professional and respectful demeanor.
    • Respectfully takes direction from Supervisor and designated event leads.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    **Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities **

    • First Aid and Child CRP Certified (Training will be provided, if needed.)
    • Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate, interactive brain building play.
    • Willingness / ability to work irregular hours (e.g., evening meetings and occasional weekend activities)
    • Ability to exercise professionalism in alerting parent / guardian if / when child requires parental support.
    • Implement and maintain healthy conflict resolution and appropriate boundaries.
    • Ability to work independently and use sound judgment, anticipate next steps and be proactive.
    • Ability to work in an environment with diverse individuals and groups.
    • Ability to remain flexible, positive, and adaptable.
    • Ability to work across the YCCO region.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position has no supervisory responsibility.

    Education & Experience

    Required:

    • 18 years of age or older
    • Previous experience caring for children in a group setting

    OR:

    • Any combination of education and experience that would qualify candidate for the position.

    Preferred:

    • Spanish / English Bilingual
    • GED or High School Diploma

    Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations

    Required:

    • First Aid / CPR Infant, Child, and Adult Certified or ability to become certified.

    Preferred:

    • Child Abuse and Neglect Certificate
