    Summary

    The Parent Engagement Coordinator is responsible for conducting outreach to Latinx parents of children aged 0-6 to connect families to existing services. This position will also help identify community members interested in a career in childcare, providing them with support and resources.

    Essential Duties

    1. Supports the development and implementation of bidirectional communication & outreach strategy to ensure that parents are engaged in family support and school readiness services and that their voice influences the work of the Early Learning Hub (ELH) and its partners.
    2. Builds relationships to ensure that Spanish-speaking parents are supported to access school readiness and family support services.
    3. Works closely with Childcare Resource & Referral to recruit Spanish-speaking family childcare providers.

    Job Duties

    Parent Engagement

    • Supports the development and implementation of a bi-directional communication plan and parent outreach & engagement strategy that are bilingual and culturally sensitive.
    • Builds relationships with schools, churches, and CBOs to provide a natural liaison between them and early learning programs.
    • Works closely with Childcare Resource & Referral to recruit Spanish-speaking family childcare providers.
    • Builds relationships with Latinx families that ensure ongoing communication and connection to services.
    • Supports, promotes, and facilitates family outreach and engagement activities in partnership with childcare, schools, churches, and social service agencies.
    • Conducts direct outreach to Latinx families through their places of employment, recreation, and daily business.
    • Supports countywide events that include screenings and connections to community resources.
    • Conducts focus groups and community cafes with Spanish-speaking families.
    • Conducts direct outreach to high-needs families through phone calls and email.
    • Responds to family inquiries to connect them to family support and school readiness services.
    • Assists ELH staff with Spanish applications for assistance or program enrollment, as needed.
    • Supports recruitment of bilingual / bicultural members for the Parent Leadership Council.
    • Assists with the development of culturally specific social media content in Spanish.
    • Facilitates the integration of local Latinx voices and perspective in local public relations work and in legislative outreach.
    • Works with Outreach & Referral Specialist to ensure that parent newsletter is culturally sensitive and relevant to Latinx families.

    Early Learning

    • Actively participates in bi-weekly Early Learning team meetings and monthly Yamhill Community Care (YCCO) staff meetings.
    • Actively participates in Parent Leadership Council meetings, events, and trainings.
    • Actively participates in partner agencies teams & committees, as directed by the Early Learning Director.
    • Engages in shared learning opportunities provided by the Oregon Health Authority and the Early Learning Division, as applicable.
    • Participates in meetings, workshops, and conferences to share professional learning with peers at the state level and nationally, if applicable.
    • Supports ELH team events, as needed.

    Essential Department & Organizational Functions

    • Works to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable services, and working relationships with diverse groups of employees, community partners, and community members.
    • Participates in the preparation and submission of regulatory and contract required deliverables.
    • Works closely with other YCCO departments, including Health Plan Operations and Compliance to assist with audits; including the External Quality Review (EQR), as needed.
    • Proposes and implements process improvements.
    • Meets deadlines for completion of assigned responsibilities and projects.
    • Maintains agreed upon work schedule with punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

    Education & Experience

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in community development, social services, early childhood education, or a related field.
    • Two (2) years of experience in community coordination.
