    Our growing estate planning and elder law firm helps parents take care of their children and children take care of their parents. We are hiring a legal/drafting assistant in Brooklyn to provide our clients with the ultimate customer service experience and handle crucial tasks to support the attorneys. You'll play an integral role in creating memorable client experiences and fulfilling our role as Legacy Lawyers. This important position involves critical administrative duties related to customer service and direct attorney support. The firm is growing quickly, and the owner needs front-line support to “keep the trains running on time” and keep our clients happy. You’ll primarily assist with preparing legal documents and perform any other tasks as needed to ensure our firm is operating efficiently. A typical day will include managing office correspondence, including responding to phone calls and emails, arranging and preparing for meetings, and ensuring our legal team knows upcoming deadlines. This is a key position in the firm. It is a full-time job, so you must be able to work in the office (as soon as it is safe to do so) for 40 hours per week. Initial compensation will be based upon prior experience and current pay. Raises will be based on job performance. The position is full-time and offers paid holidays, PTO, 401k w matching, health insurance, and a free fitness center. While legal experience is a huge plus, if you can show a demonstrated attention to detail and organize large volumes of information, we are open to training. Characteristics: • A positive, enthusiastic team-player attitude • Excellent customer service for every client, case, or task, even at 4:30 pm on Friday with the same care as one on Monday at 9 am • Organized, accurate, and detail-oriented to keep track of key dates, avoid costly mistakes, keep the right people informed, and prioritize your time so that we never miss a deadline • Stellar organization skills to keep track of files, dates, and client information • Time-management skills are essential to ensure the firm is operating efficiently Responsibilities: • Use our customized software to review and collect missing information needed to prepare estate planning documents, including following up with clients over telephone and email. • Using WealthCounsel and ElderCounsel, draft advanced directives, wills and trusts per attorney design instructions. • Review documents with clients and answer basic questions. Prepare attorneys for follow up review meetings with clients. • Arrange signing appointments. • Assist in funding trusts, including preparing + filing deeds and arranging for out of state deeds to be prepared by other counsel. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent GED. • Excellent organizational skills and time-management skills. This role has a lot of balls in the air and you must be able to work with your managers to learn how to prioritize certain tasks over others and when to ask for help. • Excellent written and spoken English along with a business casual professional presentation. • Demonstrated attention to detail and management of information. • Previous experience working in a law firm environment or office environment is a plus, but one of our start employees had never worked in an office before she joined our team. • Very comfortable with technology and computer skills such as Microsoft Office products, Google Workspace (formerly G-Suite) and ability to learn how to use our client portal, customized practice management, and drafting software. Compensation: $50,000 plus performance bonuses
