    Position Overview

    TAC Auction Services is seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Yard Attendant / Equipment Mechanic to support auction operations, equipment management, and facility maintenance. This hands-on position is responsible for inspecting, moving, preparing, and performing basic mechanical repairs on equipment and vehicles while ensuring the auction yard remains organized, safe, and presentable.

    The ideal candidate has experience operating heavy equipment, performing light mechanical repairs, and working in an outdoor environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Equipment & Vehicle Operations

    Operate forklifts, skid steers, loaders, tractors, and other equipment safely.

    Move, stage, and organize equipment throughout the auction yard.

    Load and unload equipment, vehicles, and attachments.

    Assist with customer pickups and load-outs.

    Ensure equipment is properly positioned for inspections, photography, and auctions.

    Equipment Inspection & Mechanical Work

    Perform basic inspections on incoming equipment and vehicles.

    Diagnose and complete minor mechanical repairs when authorized.

    Check and maintain fluid levels, batteries, tires, lights, and other basic systems.

    Assist with equipment troubleshooting and operational testing.

    Prepare equipment for auction by ensuring it starts, runs, and presents well when possible.

    Coordinate larger repair needs with management and outside vendors.

    Yard Operations

    Maintain a clean, organized, and professional auction yard.

    Assist with lot setup and auction preparation.

    Keep inventory organized and properly identified.

    Monitor equipment locations and assist with inventory tracking.

    Ensure safe traffic flow throughout the facility.

    Facility Maintenance

    Perform general property and facility maintenance.

    Maintain shop and yard equipment.

    Assist with lawn care, pressure washing, and basic grounds maintenance.

    Report safety hazards and equipment issues promptly.

    Customer Service

    Greet customers, transporters, and visitors professionally.

    Assist buyers and consignors with equipment inspections.

    Support customers during pickup and loading processes.

    Maintain a positive and helpful attitude while representing the company.

    Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

    Mechanical experience with trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, or construction equipment.

    Experience operating forklifts and heavy equipment.

    Ability to safely tow trailers and move equipment.

    Basic knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines.

    Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Preferred Experience

    Heavy equipment or diesel mechanic experience.

    CDL (preferred but not required).

    Auction, transportation, agriculture, trucking, or construction industry experience.

    Welding and fabrication experience.

    Hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting experience.

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

    Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

    Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and work around heavy equipment.

    Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
