    Job Description

     YELLOWSTONE MONTESSORI ACADEMY IN BOZEMAN, MONTANA IS LOOKING FOR ONE FULL-TIME AND/OR TWO HALF-TIME MONTESSORI-CERTIFIED TEACHERS AND ONE SUBSTITUTE FOR OUR PRIMARY CLASS.  As Montessori Teacher, you will be responsible for presenting lessons, teaching reading, math, geography, science, writing, etc. and leading Circle Time and Exercise Time, while working as a team member with the director and 3 other teachers.  We need an emotionally mature, kind, attentive, patient and qualified Montessori educator who understands how to communicate with and listen to 3 to 6 year old children.  Some of the things that you will do as a Montessori Teacher include, but are not limited to:

    • Be accountable for the delivery of an authentic Montessori program that includes teaching reading, writing and math to children as young as 3 years old.
    • Supervise the classroom in the lead teacher’s absence, helping the children to think creatively, to solve problems independently and respect themselves and others. 
    • Spark imagination, assist children in making positive choices and help the students build self-esteem while they discover new things each day.
    • Teach grace and courtesy lessons by explanation and example.
    • Guide children in self-motivated learning, helping stimulate their natural desire to learn.
    • Be responsible for ensuring an educational, caring and safe environment for the children.
    • Supervise the children on the playground.
    • Be responsible for reporting challenges, successes and competencies of each student to the Director or to parents on a regular basis. 
    • Communicate effectively with other teachers and be able to interact well with parents and management in a traditional early childhood care setting.
    • Snack preparation and some cleaning as assigned on a rotating basis.

    We are looking for candidates who are as passionate about the growth and development of each precious child in our care as we are.  We are most interested in talking to applicants that have the following qualifications:

    • A Montessori Primary Certification from an accredited Montessori training program or qualifies to be a Montessori Primary Intern because of recent completion of Montessori primary training coursework.
    • Montessori Teacher experience.preferred
    • Experience working in a licensed Montessori childcare facility preferred
    • A Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
    • Coursework in early childhood education or child development preferred
    • Impeccable references and a proven track record of caring for and nurturing young children
    • The ability to meet state primary caregiver requirements for education and experience as well as a clean driving record.  The successful candidate will have to clear federal and state background checks including fingerprinting.
    • Experience with writing progress reports and conducting Parent Teacher Conferences preferred
    • Willing and able to work from 7:45 am to 4:15 pm or 8:45 am to 5:15 pm with ½ hour for lunch; full time 5 days per week. Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work.Or willing to work part-time in the mornings 4-5 days per week.
    • Willing to sign a contract to work from September 1, 2020 to June 12, 2021.  Summer Session hours are negotiable.  Probationary period is 6 months.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age and a USA citizen or legally approved to work in the USA.
