  • Responsibilities

    SUMMARY: The primary function of the Infrastructure Engineer is to ensure efficient, strategic use of core platforms, services, and technologies which provide foundational technical services to the business as offered by Travis Credit Union’s (TCU) Technology Solutions organization.  This role provides analysis, development, and operational support of servers, storage, virtualization, and networking solutions, including defining, analyzing, creating, and supporting new services or solutions, modification and development of new functionality (either as enhancements or as green-field development within an infrastructure ecosystem), system integration, testing, maintenance, monitoring, and operational oversight of assigned solutions and services, independently or in cooperation with other technology teams, to advance business objectives.

     

     

    PROFILE:

    • Functions as an Infrastructure Engineer to support the successful deployment, maintenance, development, integration, and use of the infrastructure environment and its services, including enterprise software, virtualization solutions, networking technology and services, telephone and voicemail systems, device management, patch management, storage, backup and recovery, monitoring and logging, and various productivity or technical tools to aid in production activities related to assigned areas.
    • Provides input into and supports the execution of operations management, service management, environment management, security, and project management methodologies & processes, incident and change control processes, release management, testing, documentation development and maintenance, monitoring, data management, environment maintenance, solution enhancements, and solution development.
    • Identifies, understands, and plans for organizational and human impacts of systems, and ensures business requirements are properly documented and integrated with existing processes, services, solutions, and skill sets.
    • Develops, documents, and revises environment or solution operations procedures, tests, and quality standards and functions.
    • Participates in the collection, analysis, and development of reports and various metrics for internal reporting, such as environment performance, capacity, and availability management.
    • Creates and updates communications and incident management activities to streamline ticket resolution.
    • Assists or leads the troubleshooting and resolution of issues, such as application, data synchronization, system integration, and performance incidents.
    • Assists or leads the creation and review of change requests to ensure facilitation of and adherence to TCU’s Change Management processes.
    • Participates in the training and on-going mentoring of new team members as required.
    • Assists in development and upkeep of user and system documentation in consideration of TCU policies and procedures which impact the use of systems and services while being consistent with industry best practices.
    • Continuously adheres to industry best practices and TCU policies and procedures for the successful completion and delivery of work.
    • Ensures adherence to Service Level Agreements or Objectives.

    • Ability to learn and successfully employ vendor and TCU supplied tools for environment configuration, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support.

    • Ability to understand and successfully employ networking, storage, operating system virtualization, and integration solutions and services, and utilize appropriate environments (e.g. Test, Staging, and Production) in support of assigned responsibilities.

    • Ability to utilize application and desktop reporting tools at an increasing level of expertise.

    • Ability to design processes for the efficient use of assigned technologies or services.

    • Ability to assume responsibility and to work flexible hours on a regular basis.

    • Ability to initiate, plan, execute and close phases of projects as required.

    Required Experience

    • Reports directly to IT Leadership.
    • Normally receives general instructions on routine work, and detailed instructions on new assignments.
    • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 2 years of experience; or 6 years of equivalent work experience.
    • Work experience as a replacement for education must show advanced technical ability in the support, maintenance, operations, training, and delivery of complex infrastructure solutions to a set of diverse business functions.
