Job Summary:

Pet Groomer Assistant

Duties / Responsibilities:

Provide exemplary cosmetic care to pets by cleaning, freshening and washing pet hair with shampoo and conditioner;

Calm anxious and difficult pets with patience, gentle handling and care;

Maintain overall pet hygiene by clipping nails, brushing teeth and cleaning ears;

Maintain clean workstation by sanitizing and sweeping before the arrival of each new client and at the end of each work day;

Deliver outstanding customer service to pet owners; communicate clearly and honestly; bring/maintain a positive attitude to work each day;

Protect the best interests of clients and their pets, by notifying clients of any concerns regarding their pet, including skin abnormalities, ear infections, ticks and fleas;

Maintain and strengthen client relationships, in an effort to continue to grow and obtain repeat business.

Skills and Qualifications:

Must be comfortable working with animals, including anxious and difficult animals;

Ability to stand for at least 2 hours at any given time and be able to lift heavy animals over 50 pounds;

Willingness to learn new skills and techniques on the job;

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;

Astute organizational, time management, attention to detail, multi-tasking and customer service skills

Prior bathing experience preferred, but willing to train;

Experience working with animals in a professional or volunteer capacity.

Working Hours:

4 days a week – Wednesday – Saturday 8:00AM – 6:00PM

Compensation:

$16.00 - $18.00 per hour, DOE, plus benefits package and paid time off for this non-exempt, full-time position.
