About the Role:
Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association (RTMA) is looking for a passionate and driven Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator to help shape the next generation of manufacturing talent in Rochester, NY. POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for managing and expanding the Rochester Technology & Manufacturing Association’s (RTMA) youth programs; including the Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program (FLYAP) and ROC With Your Hands (RWYH). The Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator (YAC) will work with the Director of Workforce Development, advanced manufacturing businesses, K through 12 educational institutions (instructors, counselors, administrators, etc.), students/youth apprentices, partners from higher education and local not-for-profit agencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Reports to the RTMA’s Director of Workforce Development and Executive Director. Work with the Director of Workforce Development on expanding and promoting the RTMA’s youth apprenticeship programs to K through 12 schools and underserved populations. Assist with registration and data tracking of Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program (FLYAP) employers, youth apprentices, and educational partners. Strengthen tracking through automated text messaging, surveys, emails, follow-up phone calls, and more. Serve on the Steering Committee for ROC With Your Hands career exploration event with an emphasis on coordinating day-of event efforts as needed; will also assist with the registration process and tracking for the event. Coordinate the RTMA’s year-round outreach programs designed to inform educational and business partners (i.e. Women in Manufacturing Summit, Manufacturing Educator’s Day, National Apprenticeship Week, etc.). Attend and/or present at career fairs in order to educate students, families and educators about FLYAP and ROC With Your Hands. Schedule additional events and meetings to promote youth apprenticeship programs and manufacturing careers to the appropriate audiences. Assist with media, social media, and website development as needed. Must have the ability to work with others and perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Working knowledge of the advanced manufacturing industry, familiarity with training and apprenticeship programs and career exploration programs. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and social media. Acquainted with educational institutions in the greater Rochester and Finger Lakes Region. (NOTE: Comparable experience may be substituted for minimum qualifications.)
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Position will be housed in the RTMA’s offices at Brighton Campus Park, 2024 West Henrietta Road, Suite 3J, Rochester, NY 14623. Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel within the nine-county greater Rochester and Finger Lakes region. Hours are generally Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with occasional pre-scheduled early morning, evening, and weekend events as needed. Position also features schedule flexibility.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in both an office setting and within businesses and educational institutions. Occasionally moving and lifting moderate amounts of weight and operating office equipment that may require repetitive hand movement.
COMPENSATION: $52,500 to $57,500 per year based on experience. Healthcare, IRA contribution, mileage, vacation and holidays. Position is also eligible for Bonus/Revenue Share and cell phone reimbursement.
