Full-time position (1 YEAR WITH OPTIONS FOR RENEWAL)
Youth Connection Charter School (YCCS) provides high-performing high school options in 17 campuses across Chicago. YCCS serves youth ages 16 to 21, providing a better chance in contrast to traditional school environments where our students did not succeed or were failed by the system.
Civic Engagement (CE) and Social Justice (SJ) are core components of the Youth Connection Charter School (YCCS) student engagement model. The YCCS Social Justice Freedom School (SJFS) will advance the YCCS Civic Engagement Initiative and Social Justice Institute by creating a pipeline of trained teachers from our communities, returning as licensed educators. Aligning our teaching workforce with student demographics encourages a positive discipline enthusiasm and increases cultural and community connections between students and staff. The programming and curricula will focus on strengthening students’ understanding of Black and African History, intersections of diverse cultures and literacy.
The SJFS PROGRAM COORDINATOR will ensure mission, guidelines, policies & procedures of the program are implemented & maintained. The Coordinator manages and develops program data bases to ensure achievement of goals and objectives; breaks projects into doable actions and set timeframes; creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation, analyzes data and prepares reports; maintains accurate records of students, intern, employee engagement; manages project procurement and create check requests, as needed; acts as liaison to campuses and community partners; acts as point of contact and communicates project status to all participants and YCCS management; assigns tasks to internal teams and assists with schedule management; coordinates project management activities, resources, equipment and information; meets regularly with supervisors and partners to ensure that partners’ and participants’ needs are met; liaise with stakeholders to identify and define requirements, scope and objectives; creates and nurtures relationships with community partners and campuses; and; performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· A bachelor’s degree and 3 years of program/project administrative experience.
· Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management
· Strong working knowledge of Project Management Tools & Software
· Strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, database software programs
· Ability to thrive in high pressure environments and meet multiple deadlines.
· Experience engaging high school students to achieve their academic and professional goals
· Excellent communications skills, including verbal and written
