It's Spring - Come Grow With Hopes Promise Respite!
SCHEDULING: At orientation, we review available assignments with you and together develop a consistent weekly work schedule supporting youth with intellectual/developmental disabilities in their family homes and at activities in the community. Part time and full-time hours are available.
AVAILABLE COMMUNITY BASED ASSIGNMENTS: Assignments are consistent weekly visits scheduled at the same time 1 to 3 times per week. The length of each visit varies (usually averaging 2 to 8 hours per visit depending on assignment), however, NY weekday visits begin at 2pm or later due to school schedules.
SERVICE LOCATION: Support is provided at the youth's family home and at activity locations in the community; this is not a group home or day program setting.
ASSIGNMENT TRAVEL TIME: Varies - assignments available in all areas of NJ and assignments are by mutual agreement.
RATE: $20/hour plus mileage reimbursement when travelling with youth in your personal vehicle.
Job Summary:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain person centered focus and acting in accordance with individualized plans of support.
Promote and respect individual choice, dignity, and self-determination.
Support skill development and independence goals while providing emotional support and companionship.
Facilitate engagement in community-based activities, including recreational outings, appointments, and skill-building opportunities.
Provide direct support (from prompting to physical assistance) with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, dressing, mobility, meal preparation, and medication reminders as needed.
Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for all activity areas, including vehicles, following agency policies and safety protocols.
Complete required documentation (e.g., progress notes, incident reports, attendance logs) accurately and timely.
Respond to emergencies calmly and effectively, following individualized plans of support.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Respect for inclusion.
Compassionate, patient, reliable and comfortable supporting youth with disabilities in the community on a one-to-one basis.
Interested and able to establish and maintain a set long-term schedule of assignments.
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to individual needs.
Valid driver's license, car insurance and reliable transportation.
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; all degrees and educational backgrounds welcome.
Prior experience working with individuals with I/DD or in caregiving roles.
Certification in CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain within 2 weeks of first day.
Basic computer literacy for electronic documentation and communication.
