Youth Engagement Coordinator - Career Navigator
Under the guidance and direction of the Director of Education, the Youth Engagement Coordinator - Career Navigator supports youth and young adults ages 16–24, especially those disconnected from school or work, in identifying, accessing, and completing high-quality education, training, and employment opportunities. Rooted in ULMS’s mission to empower Black and underserved communities, this role uses a whole-person, culturally responsive pathways-navigation approach to provide individualized coaching, assessments, career planning, and wraparound support.
The Youth Engagement Coordinator – Career Navigator acts as a central hub of guidance in partnership with ULMS’ programs, local schools, employers, colleges, and social service agencies. This role empowers participants to navigate systems, build economic mobility, and transition into stable career and education pathways.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
1–3 years of experience in youth development, career coaching, workforce programs, or case management.
Knowledge of career pathways, training systems, apprenticeships, and the Seattle-area labor market.
Understanding of positive youth development and equity-focused coaching models.
Ability to work effectively in diverse, fast-paced, community-centered environments.
Strong relationship-building, communication, and motivational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Salesforce or similar databases preferred.
Punctuality
Proven ability to build relationships and trust quickly
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Willingness and ability to maintain a flexible work schedule when necessary, consistent with the demands of the students and schools
Prior experience working with opportunity or “at-risk” youth, including knowledge of the Seattle Public School System
Valid WA State Driver’s License
ULMS TOTAL COMPENSATION:
Medical - $11,176.08 per year
Dental - $540 per year
Vision - $65.04 per year
